Transfer character between servers to play with friends?

I think I was misled by a comment, now that I've played the game for a while.
Server reset itself is a huge NOPE for my personal playstyle. But considering there's stuff that you can carry over, I figured I'd try it out anyways. I was told you can change worlds or something like that, so I assumed it meant that if you play on a separate server from a friend, you can just change to that world or server.
I saw that on teleporter, there's a "change world" and it isn't what I thought it'd be.
Also my character wasn't available on startup, so I had to restart, and it said something about new season or sign up for season.

I'm wondering if this means that I can't play with friends without having to make a completely new character, as if restarting every season wasn't bad enough.

I don't mean to sound rude towards people that like restarting every few months or so, that's just personally not me. And server-specific characters are an extra nope. Which is why I stopped playing Palworld for example, among many others. So I'd like to know before I invest more time in this game, despite how fun it is.
I just don't see a future playing a game I can't rely on, if that makes sense.

You cant change servers for now. On each you start from bottom.

I tried clicking on another server to test it out. It replayed the intro cutscene, and took me to Character Creation. I don't see an option to upload the current character I have, so I'm assuming a new server means a completely clean slate, compared to every season starting over your levels and loot (minus blueprints and such).

That's unfortunate. I just unlocked the Gold Compound Bow, but am only level 29 so I can't use Tier V yet so I was grinding out levels, forgetting I'd have to restart that anyways once season is over.

Now that I know the friends that tried the game and I can't play together without starting over, since populations fluctuate and we have our own servers anyways, I think I'm done with the game for now unless they change it.
It was fun, don't get me wrong. It's just for an online game, I like being able to play with my buddies without having to worry about every single decision being affected by whether we started in the same server or not.
Just my own personal style.

I wondered this before. And if you are stuck in the same server, but can switch to another one while keeping your own character once per season, that'd be not as bad as well.

You should have just posted this as a reply to the other thousand threads just like it. I might have actually paid attention to the content of it. SMH

I stopped playing until they add private servers so that i can play with friends.
we tried it a few times to get into a server together and it's pointless to try with more than 2.
Even when i tried with my son, not even 2 minutes apart, he got told the server was full.

we need to get more than 10 people on one server, which is impossible at this time.
having the option to transfer your character from 1 server to another is not going to do much when every server fills up as fast as it does.

The biggest let down ... it really breaks it for us. Not being able to play together is the reason to skip this.

They talk about community and server events but you cant even get onto the same server as friends. Atleast allow characters to move servers and add base upkeep to get rid of dead bases
