How to disable chat window

How do I disable or minimize the giant chat window on the left hand side?

You can't turn it off in the true sense, but you can turn all chat channels so the box will fade out and disappear.

Press F1 when you can see the chat window and click the gear button to the left of the chat window. Then you should have options in one tab (the center one I think) where you can turn off whatever channels you want. Then the chat window will fade out in like 10 seconds or something once there are no messages to show.

Have been looking for a way to see the left of the screen since I started playing.
