Deviant securement unit not detecting furnaces
I've tried everything and I can't get a few of my deviants to detect a furnace to check the "high temperature" need. I've deleted the securement unit, moved it, put the deviant in and out and moved the furnace. No dice

Any recommendations?

It's because of the fridge, thank you to those who said that, i would have never get it myself!

Many things are bugged in this game. Its also random if deviant chambers pick up the colored lights. Just gotta get lucky.

For those still grappling with the issue of undetectable furnaces, it IS due to the fridges AND how the game processes game entity locations.

They seem to be processed on a XY plane instead of a XYZ space.
This means if you have a fridge on the ground floor on the northern side of your house and 15 furnaces on the fourth floor on the northern side, you will NOT get the heated trait due to the fridge being too close.
In a 3D space, you are outside the fridge's zone of influence, but since the Z coordinate is projected down to the XY plane, they are practically on top of each other, and the fridge cancels out all the furnaces.

Solution:
Move the fridge OR the furnaces to opposite sides of the house, regardless of which floor they are on. Also, move the deviant securement units to the correct location.

I figured it out, one furnace can heat up to 3 securement units, try placing another for the 4th, 5th and 6th units to be detectable.

That's just silly. Refrigerators actually make the area around them slightly warmer as they vent heat to keep the interior cool. It should not negate the furnace.

The Fridge was the key for me, I placed a Furnace and wouldn't work. So when you said Fridge I check my placement. The fridge was right above on the next floor. Moved it and everything is good.

Try a few of the suggestions posted but it's totally random. Moved and deleted my fridges and still doesn't work. Same with the red/ blue/ green lights for the deviations. It's random if it works or not. Just gotta get lucky sadly.

Just had this problem. I deleted a deviation securement unit and rebuilt one and then all 4 of my units started registering heat

The objects that improve the deviants, do so in a sphere around them. Like a bubble. If you are using smelters/furness you need to make sure there's no fridges overlapping the bubble area of influence. Or the Cold of the Fridge cancels out the Heat of the Furness.

I know this was originally posted a while back but just in case someone stumbles across this looking for a solution like I did, I wanted to share what worked for me... I had my furnace outdoors- moving the furnace and deviants needing warm temps into a small room (1x7) fixed it for me. The temp reads 25c both inside and outside, but it wouldn't work outside. For what it's worth, its currently warming 4 deviants- two on each side (even when it's not in use) and the other things in that room are a disassembly bench, water purifier, compost bin, and storage crates.

This actually works, I moved my furnace with warm deviants at the other side of territoty, built a ground floor platform and it worked.
it doesnt matter which floor. I had my fridge on the other end of the territory, and furnace on the other end.

i've had issues where if placing, for example, a space heater in way of winter, the deviants wouldn't pick it up. then had to move and place the securement units back down in their places and that seemed to help.

not sure if that'll come in handy for anyone
