Once Human

Once Human

Computer freeze ups.
32 gb of ram
AMD Ryzen Threadripper 1900x 8-core
Nvidia GTX 1060 6G
64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

^^^^^^^^^Are my specs^^^^^^^^^

I can get into the menu, interact with the menu, and even change settings, but after a bit of time it just completely freezes my computer.

Trying to find if there is a work around or if I am just waiting for a patch.

Would be great to actually see this fixed. But I tried LITERALLY everything I could find.

If your entire machine locks up with no response, either your GPU is not stable, or your CPU platform is not.

You can try set nvidia debug mode in the nvidia control panel (in the Help toolbar there is a option for Debug Mode). This will set reference clocks.

If you have 32GB RAM what is your memory clocks (3200?). Are you using XMP/EXPO or any memory profiles? First gen Ryzen does not have strong IMC and usually cannot hold high speed, especially with many dimms/ranks (e.g. 4x 8GB ram).

Try disable XMP to test if you can.

No I am not using any memory profiles.

Both of my GPU and CPU are stable, no issues on any other games. Even games with higher computer demands such as helldivers 2. Just this game, friend with specs

i7 8700k
Geforce RTX super
16 ram

Thats my friends specs and he runs it totally fine no issues and can even stream.

If you ever get a full machine lockup/freeze it means you are not stable. If it was the game then it would crash to desktop. When I had a old gtx1070 it would run for hours in game but full freeze on exit/idle randomly, turned out to be a power supply issue.

It's not easy to fix, you need to run a bunch of other stability tests to see if anything fails.

You can try linux with proton to rule out windows and this game's anti-cheat if you have time.

Ok, what if it happens ONLY when I run the game and no other time?
Shibe Jul 26, 2024 @ 6:20pm
You have to rule out each component. If it is GPU, then possibly you may hear audio in the background like discord. If you had a iGPU in your system you could switch to it when it happens.

If it's full on freeze, no input works or no audio at all then it is a full system crash. Unless the game is doing something stupid with it's anti-cheat, you'd need to go through what is/could be causing it. Otherwise you would need to go through either a new windows install or try running the game in linux proton (which works btw).

There is false equivalence when just one program exhibits this problem, ergo it must be the program causing it. The symptoms are far too serious for it to come from a game running in userspace.

If you want an example see the recent Intel CPU news on their 13/14th gen. Many gamers blaming game developers and Unreal Engine 5 games when in reality Intel released faulty hardware.

First off I run AMD, not Intel for my CPU. My computer is running fine, I've checked and plan to do some upgrades within the next few months. Just hard to jolt cooling, GPU, and power supply upgrades suddenly.

Second. If it was in fact my computer; Why is it that I can play unhindered and no crashes, while playing games like Age of Wonder 4, Conan Exiles, and Ark Survival Evolved with no issue? While this one game that has lesser requirements then those games, hard crashes my PC with the sound stuttering just as it crashes? I literally watch this game use JUST in the menu over 60-70% alone of my CPU and RAM!

Hi, so don't shoot the messenger, but you kinda missed the point about the Intel debacle.

You already know it really shouldn't be doing this, the game is a DX11 mobile port and runs fine on other peoples hardware, even steam deck. It does a bunch of compiling on launch and while running the game which might be the trigger, but it is not the root cause of a system hardlock.

Take this to a tech forum, or try your luck with game support (unlikely). Nobody else can diagnose your PC for you, at most they can walk you through it. There is no easy fix for a full system crash.

PC 101 - Games do not crash your "whole" computer. If your computer is unstable then it will crash the whole system if certain kinds of stress are put on it that it cannot handle.

You can try locking your FPS in the nvidia control panel to see if it helps.
