PVP Is enabled on pve Severs?
I played a Public Crisis event & the another player started shooting me, downed me & i realised pvp was on, i got out of the area & asked in the chat & apparently being in chaos mode or Public crisis events enables pvp.

The Journal doesn't mention crisis events enabling pvp.

They told me chaos mode enabled pvp. I opened my backpack, saw the top-right icon & it clearly stated "PVE", i hovered my mouse over it & it displays the title, "chaos", but then has a description under it clearly stating:
"Players in a normal state (PvE) cannot attack others, nor can they take damage from defensive installations in other player's territories"

When i click on the pve icon in the top right, nothing changes, the description is the same & the "chaos" title doesn't change either. Is this a visual bug or does the pvp toggle straight up just not work atm?

Server: PVE01-00111

Edit: The Event: "Cargo Scramble", is a purely pvp infected style team-based king of the hill game mode with forced pvp, without reasonable warning to the player.

The one with the truck and the floating seed? Once you are the host of the seed, you become shootable for others so they can get seeds, and you can shoot other so you dont lose the seed early.

Reviving from this downed state does not consume adrenaline, it's just a QTE by holding E.

Once the event finishes (0 seeds left) or you leave the immediate perimeter of the truck, you become unshootable again.

Yes, it's an odd choice to have a semi-PvP event on PvE servers but whatever.

Think of it as Lazer tag.

the truck is a pvp event, sometimes no one even botehrs to go, i have had times where im the only one there and get all the stuff lol (also its a good time to use the cookie if a player base is nearby and try to hide lmao)

So i watched a video of the event (Cargo Scramble) & from what i'm understanding, this isn't a semi-pvp event at all, it's strictly pvp with infected team-based king of the hill style mechanics, the randomly selected seed hosts(infected) are made into a separate team from non-seeds, gaining seeds every 5s, non-seeds must down the seed hosts(infected) to re-roll who is the seed host(infected) & will also gain points for downing them, seed hosts(infected) must also do the same thing, while also gaining seeds every 5s. Players do NOT LOSE seeds they have already collected, they just stop passively gaining them.

This isn't just an odd choice, it's a serious failure to convey important information, i don't know if the developers included a more understood translation of the event in their mother tongue translation of Chinese, but it definitely isn't clear in the English one & i hope this is addressed in the future.

I chose the server because it said "pve", and at NO POINT, does the game or event itself actually TELL you some events MAY have forced pvp, nor does it detail the ones specifically that this falls under. (At least not in the English translation)

It's no wonder people don't do this event if:
1. The task for completion is in no way understandable for new players.
2. If no other players attend the event, the event is slower, dull & boring to complete.
3. The event suddenly force-enables pvp on a pve server without any early warning whatsoever.
4. There is NO clear explanation of WHY pvp was enabled.

It's extremely important to inform the player of WHEN AND WHY, or else it just leads to the assumption that a bug/exploit has occured, leading to frustration, & then outright avoidance of the event without an understanding of the mechanics.

If the developers read this, on top of the objective clarification, I suggest enabling deviant spawning in the area that the seed will choose randomly between deviants or players.

BUT, if NO other players are attending, only allow the deviants to be selected as seed hosts(infected). New players would then be able to understand what they need to do if no other players are attending.

Alternatively, just put: "Attack the Seed of Life Hosts" in the objective tasks & players will most likely immediately understand (assuming they can be bothered to read), that anyone with the jellyfish on their head has a target on their back.

When I first did that event my game was runjing so choppy. I saw players shooting me but i saw no indication I was actually taking damage, thought they were just messing around. Till all my Health suddenly disappeared. Thought it was a bug at first.

As i stated above, That was more or less my first experience with another player during the event too, i was probably a small deal higher level than the other player so it took them a while to actually down me, so i realised it once my health reached halfway, but that problem relates to lack of visual feedback.

It's pvp with absolutely no downside and everyone who participated gets rewards. It's actually quite fun even if you die. It also rewards a special currency. Overall it's not bad and I recommend playing it as even if you lose you win

This page tells me nothing about how events might enable pvp, nor did it actually tell me about cargo scramble, i also should not have to exit my game & search online to understand how a game works. I might be more aware now because i have done so, but in the imaginary system of points, forcing me to read outside the game for something related to the game is a -1 point. The information is also slightly wrong/does not match the in-game when i played. "chaos" is described on the webpage to be pvp enabled, but in-game, my descriptor said the opposite when i hovered my mouse over the pve icon & directly above it were the words "chaos".

I agree that it looks fun...if you have enough players, there's no penalty for going down inside it but it's a shock for players unaware & there isn't much detail in the UI about the event tasks or on-screen prompts. If you're playing on a server with low player counts or just no-one in the area, it's a boring wait until you get all the points.

Yes it's very poorly marked as are a lot of things. So so many systems and buttons and currencies
is this the only pvp content in a pve server?

There are more unimplemented at the moment. You can also just manually flag yourself for pvp if you want by holding p.

Chaos state is how you get flagged for pvp in pve servers. Some areas items and events cause this state. Holding p just let's you activate it manually. In pve servers both players need to be flagged where as in pvp only one person needs to be flagged.

Just that every death rips your armor by 10%.

It's no wonder people don't do this event if:
The reason is very simple: it is not accessible. You only go there when you are very near or you are bored and a teleport is right next to it. Otherwise you have to chase it or reach it just at the end, earning nothing at all. It is the only event that you cannot directly teleport to.
