ACID OR OIL?
i hear a lot of people saying OIL is more important of a farm to have, but others prioritize Acid farms... which one is more valuable??
and what is acid primarily used for crafting other than ammo

I do passive on Oil and buy acid from player vendors. How effective passive farming is really depends on how much time you have to play. It wont seem very useful if your playing 4+ hours a day probably, but if your only doing 1 hr a day it's pretty essential if you want to do PW's.

Both are indispensable and there's no reason to limit yourself to one or the other. With a couple of Specialization Cleaners (or you could use Memetic Tokens), you can acquire the ability to generate both passively. I hate farming car trunks or acid mobs, so I have a passive acid farm in a polluted zone that yields about 1000 acid a day via 20 pumps, 2 filters and 4 barrels, running off of 6 deviant generators with eels. My wife has an oil farm using Super Refineries which will take as input both acid and crude oil so we can produce as much mixed or premium as we need, plus as much acid and stardust source as we need.

Yes, this is relatively slow compared to manual farming, (did I mention I hate farming acid mobs or cars) but it's passive and runs in the background (with one small exception, I have to manually move impure acid from the storage tank to the brewing barrels every so often because for some reason the barrels don't yet have pipe intakes), so I can be running legendary content all day long while generating all these materials in the background. I like that trade off.

The piping system is being changed so we no longer have to manually put impure acid into barrels. The barrels do have intakes and you can connect them currently so they will fill up with pure water. They have said all the pipes are being replaced which will allow impure acid to work the same as water. (not sure if it's in this latest update but I hope so)
can you farm petroleum? only in car boots ? you cant craft it correct?
whats the oil for ? im pumping it but havent figured that out.
aswell can you make hot water in the game?
Oil. You can get memetics for producing acid from sulfur, or making stardust with fuel. The acid farm is to do combat while the fuel farm is to run along the road and just pop open trunks, so acid farming is generally more fun.

You can make fuel from oil.
Either. Figure out which grindy thing you'd prefer to do, and then farm the other one 👍🏻👌🏻
It all depends on the perks you get. Also, for 5 pumps you need 6 Refining Facilities, but you can build 12 in total, and at least one of them is needed for premium fuel. So basically, it all depends on the number of generators or the perk to speed up fuel production, as well as the location of the base. So u can have both farms.

I also think that acid is mainly needed for trading or certain perks that allow it to be used. But with the way the trading system is presented in the game, it's just a pain in the ass. And perks are stupidly random. The drop from mobs is enough to make a tungsten cartridges.

Just have 3 accounts and get acid, oil AND stardust source. Problem solved.
Also considering the same sorts of questions, both take an absolute age to farm passively. There are, unfortunately, very limited areas that will give you all you need fully passively - the most obvious being the black fell oil refinery area - but good luck getting a spot near there
Acid all the way . i can make acid and turn it in to fuel or bullets or others, and the fuel i can use for missile . try to make tusken bullets from oil ...........

Lol. What should a person do with a bunch of acid if they don't get perks like yours?
This season i have sulfur chemist and super refinery so i just do both, i have 10 generator from friend and i'm also use both pick-up and truck to build adv synthesis bench 2 each on both car so that already 2400 acid per day without costing any power in my base since i use it from 2 car. if i really want more i just connect power to more adv synthesis bench in my base depend on how many i want 1 bench = 1200 acid per day, el stop being a problem since phase 3 ( currently have 5 million )

Super refinery also have 4x efficiency compare to normal oil refinery which is really nice it make portable fuel in no time and can turn into premium quite fast aswell. even with super refinery and pump my base have lots of left over power i also do efficient crop setup too ( only 1 osmosis and x4 auto irrigation = 152 plot.

Next season i hope i get super refinery early on it really important to me now.
I have so much of both from refinery/extraction permits I'm giving it away. Neither. No the most important farm is corn. Corn liquor is the only way I can stay sane enough to not go postal from farming so many permits.
I'll say depend on what level you currently at, if below level 50 then must be Acid cause you need those to smelt endgame ingots. when you already around level 50, you should have a lots of Acids, then you change to Oil. From level 50 onward you will mostly focus on PW, Oil is a must for biomass rockets
