Acid farming questions.
Just some questions regarding farming acid. I know you gotta do the whole water pump thing with the barrels etc as stated in multiple youtube videos ive seen and running around killing things. Me and a friend are in a beach spot and I dont quite want to move bases again for like the bajillionth time(exaggerating of course on how much we've moved around). Possible we will have to move again though for mineral resources for end game content though.
1: Are the acid farming spots the only spots to get the "polluted water?"
2: Is there like a lake, river, or pond where we can just go to and hand gather the polluted water?
Cause if there is then i dont mind collected like 5k+ of the polluted water and have it delivered to where our bases is at.
3: And for the water pumps. Do they only gather the water sources near where its at. So like im in the beach area. Will i only get sea water with like 0% chance of dirty or polluted water?
Thanks for anyone who helps clear this up and responding.

1. Yes i.e Pollution zones as indicated by the numbers on your backpack.
2. No - As far as I know the only way to get polluted water is to extract it from the ground using a water pump.
3. Yes - Put the water pump into dry ground (not water) in a pollution zone and it will extract "polluted water" which can then be turned to "impure acid" via an osmosis filter. You then need to manually put the "impure acid" into a brewing barrel with pure water 1:2 ratio to get "acid". Like the previous poster says, it's supposed to be able to be auto-piped into barrel from osmosis filter in a future update. You can also setup a "pure water" farm to run in parallel to the acid farm and auto pump "dirty water" through another Osmosis Filter to pump "pure water" directly into the Brewing Barrels.

Honestly, in it's current state, it's really not worth it. Yes it's good to get some passively acquired extra acid but the yields are so low and the system is so buggy that you will get the majority of your acid from just looting trash mobs (Deviants) playing the game anyway. When offline the pumps will randomly start pumping water into where the impure acid is supposed to collect.

1. Yes
2. Maybe. If you can find one.
3. Yes but the water filter can make salt water to pure water.

Acid farming is overrated.
Last season I had a spot that gave Acid, Oil, and stardust.
The amount gain wasn't worth the effort.
If I had multiple accounts then that is a different story.
There is Numbers that will Light up on your Backpack. The higher the number, the better the farming situation. You do NOT put the pumps into the water, but into the ground. Make sure Pumps are higher than that of your purifier and container. I have twelve pumps running right now, and the output bites and I am at a 100+ Pollution area. Last Season it was so much better. Then they were also make to where the Impure Acid was supposed to go automatically into the Brewing barrels. That has yet to happen as well.

No ... there are 2 option pollution or no pollution , the level means absolute nothing outside how much affect your character .

Ive got a whole setup of Acid farm with a +1 Power grid totaling 7 Deviation Generator +7 electric eel gaining around 300++ Watts all of that used by the farm and its not even close to what i get just running Permits that got from gear crate runs. Same goes for Oil/Barreled.

Dont get me wrong, it does help because its passive and AFK. But it is not sustainable on its own.

I found out its better to trade DeviatedCrops/weapon mods for Acids/Fuels or even Stardust Source which is a bottleneck for endgame.

From what I've seen, you get roughly 75% something and 25% polluted water. So if you go saltwater it's 75% saltwater, if you run from a river area it's 75% dirty water.

You then need to use the osmosis machine to turn the polluted into impure, then you need 10 impure into 1 acid. imho. It's a complete and utter waste of effort.

But you can get a meme special that lets you convert sulfur and links into acid. via the synthesis bench, produces about 200 or so per day if you're lucky and the house power stays on. Just setup, leave. Collect later. More Synths more acid. And you only need to mine sulfur. That's how I do it, only started the acid barrel process to complete a challenge.

Hmmm interesting. Well so far Ive had my water pump on the beach since i cant put it any further to the dirt so ive only been getting salt water from it. Kinda hoping I can get like a tiny bit of polluted water at least but its looking very unlikely. I supposed me and my friend will just have to move again if we are desperate for the acids. Thank you all for all of your tips & help regarding my questions. I hope it also helps others as well. And to the DEVS. Please make the water pumps give out a bit of polluted water from anywhere in a update. Could be like 90% of the water source near your base(so mine would be salt water) and 5% of dirty water and 5% of polluted water.

avoid areas in the sea and in lakes go on dry land where it is half polluted and half healthy so you have clean water for the barrels and polluted by acid place the base halfway

for the developers it would be better if the truck could also use the pumps so they can also fish and avoid relocations
