Allow multiple characters on a single server
All your doing by limiting this (as evidenced by season 2 complaints) is forcing people who want this to make a multitude of alt accounts to play. You have designed systems that heavily encourage creating alt accounts (memetics, season transfer limits, PVP stuff i dont care about) so naturally thats what people are going to do.

MMO's learnt this lesson decades ago, and over the years streamlined gameplay and account options to eliminate this vast waste of database spam. That's why most games have shared storages between characters (where appropriate) and ways of interacting with their other characters. Duplicating accounts are a pain for players, and a pain for customer service.

Arguments against this are missing the point entirely, people are already doing this, but due to the way people are forced to do this it's taking up character slots on servers (see more season 2 complaints).

If you don't think there's a need for alts, great! more power to you. You get the play the game the way you want to, so don't get in the way of other people playing how they want to.

If someone wants to go through the trouble of playing multiple Steam accounts, I don't see the problem. They can't really play them at the same time, they each need their own assortment of currencies, progression, and so on.

Two character slots on the same server means they would share unlocks, blueprints. That is a very different situation.

Tbh, its actually not that much of a hassle as i just setup 3 of them between posting that and now (and most of that time was finding Valves T&C's about accounts). To their credit Valve have made it super easy to create and manage multiple personal accounts.

It'd still be a lot more convenient to have all my characters on a single account, but i can share glass cosmetics etc with my alt "friends" so i dont even lose out on (some) cosmetics.

I also strongly think Eternaland should have been a "per account" rather than "per char" thing, but i dont think they can walk that one back now even if they wanted to. At least being on seperate steam accounts i can "visit" my main eternaland and just have one, not sure if that works on the same account.

Thats also sorta the point. If you were playing them completely independantly, might as well do different servers. On the same server i'd expect global things like blueprints and event progress to be shared between characters (no double dipping).

I think a lot of these issues go back to them releasing the option for multiple characters earlier than they had wanted to do initially.

I see that happening. You can probably sign up two but only one can enter.

I have 2 characters on the same server on 1 account. So I would consider this issue solved.
Additional info:
Both characters share purchased cosmetics (including prem battlepass) however free battle pass things are independant.
All Blueprints and mods are independant from each other,
You can be part of the same hive and warband.
You can share permissions for building and you now have access to an additional territory.
You are still spending your own time on 1 character or the next so that is why loot is shareable.
Items brought from Eternaland are bound for 7 days so you can only put them in your personal loot crate or your inventory.
Scenario completion is independant
Basically it's just another player on the server, difference is they both on your account.
To Switch. Esc - re-login - select alt character in character list- enter game.

My 2nd character was able to move to another server while my mains server was still accepting invites. So I joined the server. Additional info in my edited comment

How it happened with me: My OG character was on an early server, played yadda etc. Made another character a week or two later to play with my spouse. When phase six happened I sent OG character to a server, phase six on now mains server, I saw the option to send them to the same server as my OG character, and tada. Two on the same server.

Which is nice in that we can share supplies now as I play OG when spouse isn't feeling like playing.

I might try it at the end of this season, but so far it seems more like an oversight that'll get tied off than an intended (currently) feature.

Really though I'm hoping they recognise the shortcoming they've created and just address the root problems leading to people wanting alt characters in the first place. Or maybe they want that classic MMO/ARPG mule mechanic.
