Okay but what are those two programs in your startup?
For those who don't know. If you have booted up the game, you now have two new startup programs on your computer. They lack filenames, icons and destinations. one is a long string of numbers that I think is unique to you.
The second is a single number that seems to increase by 1 each time you boot up the game.
Uninstalling the game does not clear it.
Deleting it from the registry does wipe it until you boot the game again and the counter starts again at 1.

What exactly is that?

Hello there!

For the first question - here's the answer. From the discord, and mentioned elsewhere on the forums. It's just a process that was implemented in an odd fashion. It's tied to apps flyer. A program that tracks installs/unisntalls on mobile devices. The string of numbers is your device id. The number you see there is the amount of executions/installs you've done of the app that it's tied to.

This seems like a leftover, or some of the mobile related files. Keep in mind they do have plans to make this game cross platform so that folks can also play on their phone and the like.

Here's an image documenting that - https://files.catbox.moe/gua3je.png . It seems like it should be pretty straight forward if you want to confirm it yourself.

https://dev.appsflyer.com/hc/docs/nativepc-vanilla

As for the yellow border - https://helpdeskgeek.com/how-to/how-to-fix-yellow-border-when-screen-sharing-in-discord/

TL:DR version , it's a windows security feature letting you know the screen is being captured. I ran to the same issue myself when playing Destiny 2 because I had to use window capture instead of game capture due to Destiny's software. As a result it puts a square on the screen to alert me, that this screen is being captured.

Hope this helps!

I see- that clears things up. Thank you for letting us know

All well and good, but why isn't it deleted when Once Human is uninstalled? And why in the autostart if it is possible to start a counter "only" when I start the game and not when I start my PC? None of this makes any sense. No programmer could "accidentally" fabricate such nonsense.

But for me the worst thing is that Steam doesn't prevent such nonsense.

why do you care? All start up apps have exe file that you should worry about. Those entries don't have anything behind. While it looks strange, nothing is started. Strange? Yes. Harmfull? No.

Sorry if it sounds a bit harsh now:
I am interested in what apparently incompetent programmers leave behind on my computer. As I said, from a programmer's point of view it is absolute nonsense and actually a No go if there is nothing else behind it.

Are you currently using windows? I have some real bad news for you regarding 'what incompetent programmers leave on my computer'

you do know that the rumor goes around that this game literarly:
-tracks your location via IP
-grabs your steam login ID and all names how you was named in the past
-grabs your paypal informations if you have paypal registred on your steam acc.
-your steam store informations with literarly name and address (if you ever entered that which you need to do if you register for example a paypal account, so paypal can identify your steam purchases easier and you dont need to enter always a verification if the informations match).
-tracking your browser history
-tacking literarly everything else on your steam activities.
-tracking in general wtf you do on your PC.
-it wants your ID if it is mandatory in your country.
-many more rumors.

did you readed neteases ToS? i mean, if they dare to do this in the EU get they literarly a lawsuit so, i live in the EU, if i ever start this game and i notice that any of those informations gets tracked or sold or whatever to china etc. will i lawsuit the heck outta them.

having a suspicious process which sits now in your autostart is EXTREMELY suspicious and malicious aswell. if anything should this get removed if the devs want to gain any trust. noone needs PCxmobile crossplay.

I still have those two in Startup, but I disabled them, and now they just don't run any more. It's better than deleting them because the game just puts them back again.

There is no tinfoil hat cosmetic yet anyways, so your character also isn’t safe from being monitored. Better stay clear from this one, it’s just too dangerous.

Lol many games track your location by IP that's nothing new.
Anybody can see what you were named in the past but it's completely pointless.
"Grabs your PayPal info" this seems like a bull rumor someone started to scare people.
"It wants your ID if mandatory in your country" this is a China thing and it's done for all games over there as far as I know so nothing new with that.
The rest seem like they are anticheat things.

But hey if u don't like the game just delete it I guess.

Hi again - here's a nifty video by Pirate Software that breaks all of that down as well for folks if you want to check it out.

Hope this helps!
