Once Human

Once Human

Considering downloading
So from what I've seen of gameplay, it looks amazing and I really want to give it a try, but the reviews are what have me on edge. Half are saying its a great game and no issues, but another half is saying there are a ton of issues, whether it's performance, spyware, etc.

It's hard to decide because of this split so instead of asking in the reviews, I'm asking on the forums whether or not it's a good game like one half says, or if it's a bad game, like another half says. Thank you for any information as it helps me decide!

As for the cryptominer allegations, this goes hand in hand with performance. The game is made on UE5, and due to this, the game will run wildly different on different hardware regardless of power. For example, if you use 13th or 14th gen intel chips, don't even bother trying. The game runs so wildly different for each person, the only way to figure out if it will work on your hardware specs is to play it.

There is one thing you need to know, it will install 2 start up apps on your pc. This copy paste will explain it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
These 2 startup apps actually aren't apps at all, they should be inside the game registry but for some reason is registered as start up apps and does look worrying. It's an analytic software for Installs and uninstalls.

It's from this company https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AppsFlyer

The character strings is your assigned device ID, and the singular digit number is the amount of times you installed the game

They are a company that tracks installs/uninstalls for mobile games, for some reason it was included in the PC release of the game (like summoners war). If you are wondering why this is here, this game is actually a mobile game as well.

Due to it being installed improperly, these "apps" aren't deleted when you uninstall the game. If you are playing the game actively, disable the process on startup as it'll restore the files every time you launch the game.

If you uninstalled and want the files gone, you'll want to run this string in your registery "Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run" and delete the "AF_counter" and "AF_uuid" files

Because they hate china. So they are stupid. Go play the game it’s fun

The people who are fear mongering will find ways to fear monger because it is net ease. Pirate software already broke down the problems that people had issues with on the Eula.

Is the game perfect? Far from it. Is it fun? Subjective but imo yes it is very fun. Personally, I haven't played a f2p game that was this well thought out on mission design and what's available to do and none of it is gated by p2w. The only way you will ever find out is by checking it out yourself and not letting people dictate to you what is considered enjoyable.

Honest review

The game is ok but is lacking in many areas that will probably take a few months to clean up

Just feels so unfinished

It's a free game, try it out. I had a ton of fun my first ~5 hours, then I realized how insanely boring it became because they nerfed the difficulty into the ground and it's now extremely easy.

That is incredibly reductive, considering the CCP are seeking and arresting foreigners in all of Asia for things they have done outside of the entire continent.

Would Steam and Epic games allow spyware games on their launcher? I hope they have some kinda quality control before publishing?

Thank you! This really clears up a lot of confusion I had when reviewing the negative side of the reviews! :chocola2:

the games fine, the settings pages all have 2 tabs and the important settings are all on page 2 like mouse smoothing n stuff like that. the graphics preset is not a preset its an actual setting, throw graphics on low or medium if its not smooth and your fps will jump up to vsync cap if u enable that, runs great zero crashes on a fosil 10 series nvidia with the right settings, and a reputable source as you can possibly find on twitter that was covering all the helldivers 2 drama says all the people talkin about cryto miner injections are complete morons and all that spyware stuff is 100% false.

edit: you can only make 1 character so select pve server if thats what you want on the first character and dont neglect that hip size slider if you make a female ;) cuz hips aren't what it adjusts. F's in the chat to all the homies that chose pvp server in a tencent game, couldn't find the mouse smoothing setting, and didn't try the hips slider.

Get it on epic

Note sure why someone would state this is created using Unreal Engine when it clearly states on wiki, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Once_Human_(video_game), that is built using NeoX engine which is a proprietary engine by NetEase . Also, based on file structure, it clearly is not packed content you would get from an Unreal Engine build. UE packed content would be ".pak" whereas the files for Once Human have ".npk". So I am not sure if this was misquoted as my review indicates this was not built using Unreal Engine.

It's a great game, the biggest cons for me is that it resets and the gameplay isn't exactly super entertainment to do it twice, but it worth a first gameplay and you can download without fear.

PS: I never had a issue with this game, occasional lags here and there but I consider it normal.

If you no life games, dont bother, youll get burned out quick and will hate it when you hit phase 4 and have over 1000 of every resource and done everything there is to do, which itself does take an absurd amount of time, but if you plan to casually play, then get it
