Server Wipes will Kill this Game.
I don't care if you keep some stuff and lose some stuff, this game will not survive in the long run like this.
Most people who play it don't even know this game has wipes.

Progress Wipe does not make sense on PVE Servers, on PVP servers i can see it make sense otherwise No.

A lot of people seem to compare this game to other genres on purpose to mislead others but let's not kid ourselves this a Live Service MMO.

-Rust is a PVP only game not a Live Service MMO with Dungeons, Bosses, Events, RPG Mechanics or any PVE content, it's pure PVP and not much fun it's full of cheaters.
-ARK and Conan are Offline Co-op games with optional servers and Private Servers.
-Tarkov is a PVP Shooter why even bring it up?! another cheater haven game.
Path of Exile and Diablo 4 are APRGs this game is not.
For some reason people also mention Cycle Frontier?!
Which got Shut Down last year, yeah a dead game is not a good example to use.

Using any of these games in your argument makes no sense because i can randomly choose a game as well from any other genre to feed my argument but that would not make sense now does it?!
Oh, it's not a full wipe? no one cares even if it was just levels it would still be bad.

Devs need rethink this, they said they are open to feedback which means they themselves are still not sure about it yet, so please make some noise, don't let this game die.
You have a gem of a game in your hands, don't throw it away.

I love this game, i spent money on it because i know the devs deserve it,
and i'm willing to spend another 100 dollars but not with server wipes.

-Please keep it Civil, be kind, this is a Feedback Thread, be respectful.

EDIT: after playing the game for 2 seasons and spending over 200 dollars i completely gave up on the game not because of resets alone but because of another very big issue this game has which is SERVER STRUCTURE, one of the worst i have seen in an online game.

I'm surprised there isn't more attention paid to this, there are a few posts that are picking up traction, but it seems most of it is overshadowed by people screeching about the Privacy Policy more than anything.

I played the latest beta they had and sadly I was not aware of it being F2P or the nasty seasonal wipes, which the latter is why I am not playing, my choice.

I think most people playing right now see the season page and assume it works like other games, they're in for a treat when 6 weeks pass and their characters are back at level 1 among other things.

Based on their posts and other details about this wipe, you'll be grinding from the bottom up all over again, you don't and can't carry over materials you spent hours obtaining from the prior season(s), it's a massive time-sink for the same thing you already did.

My opinion is that, this is terrible, and not clearly stated anywhere aside from a post, that I imagine some people overlooked or skimmed.

Others were, in prior posts, saying it is the same as any other games with seasons, it is not. Other games with seasons don't wipe your progress to start over again, you carry your obtained goodies and move on to the next season to obtain even more goodies over time.

Everyone I know is pushing hard this season to see the full story and exp and the game so come the 6 week reset. We can all move onto a new game.

Pretty much, I will lose my energy after the 1st or 2nd wipe. But knowing this I also do not play much and enjoy the few weeks I will play it till I am done with, then move to another game.

Which is a completely normal thing to do, because that just how video games work. It's odd that simply moving on from a video game is seen by some people as something significant and abnormal.

Because it says MMO on the Steam page

So, then what kind of MMO are people expecting?

The tag, as used by Steam, is used pretty broadly to denote the scale of player connectivity, so under that "MMO" tag on Steam you've also got fighting games, racing games, and, for some reason, dozens of fishing simulators. Even Rust and DayZ have that same MMO tag, but people here keep saying they're different.

So, either people don't know what MMOs are, or the terminology is applied so haphazardly in this day and age that it's lost all meaning.

What's actually stated definitively is that this is a survival game, of which there are hundreds of others to draw conclusions from, so people expecting different from a survival game is perplexing.

A survival game... in which apparently the enemies do so little damage that you can ignore them?

It is about lifetime of a game. If you look at MMOs for example, the liftime is expected longer than for a singleplayer RPG, where people just play the story and are done.

So looking at a game which comes up with different seasons, the devs had not in mind that they will lose a bunch of players every wipe, I guess.

Yeah, and? That doesn't change the genre and style of gameplay. Take it up with the devs for making all the servers Novice and Low-Pressure.

No what kills the game for me personally is some deviants NEVER spawn. When they are supposed to. Twice now i have spent 2 x 4 hours in the buzzy bee location.
NOTHING. In the second attempt i started world hopping. Put my base beside the farm so i could quickly teleport back and forth to deadsville.
NOTHING.
That kind of ♥♥♥♥ is going to make me quit.
Because knowing when i finally get the gods be damned bee. It's gone in a mere few weeks. I say this as someone who's already spent money on the game.

I hate the dev who thinks it's a good idea to put a long respawn timer on the deviants.

I got the bee within 2 mins of this post.
I was starting my 3rd 4 hour camp :)

Why would I look at MMOs when this is a survival game that plays and functions like a survival game? Quest completion and progress is also saved between seasons, anyhow.

That's not a very good example anyway when you have actual MMOs like Final Fantasy 14 straight-up telling people that it's cool to cancel their subs and not play all the time.

Progress Wipe does not make sense on PVE Servers, on PVP servers i can see it make sense but this game will not compete with rust or any other survival wipe game if they're planning that.
It's really common for this style of game... Conan exiles does this and rust even does this as well. .. They still very much have a player base.. People who understand how to read info knows what is coming. It's not the devs fault if someone won't read. Also if really don't like the game for wipes why bother? This game has many people building massive houses and plots of land what do you expect other players to do when they just join?? All the spots are taken all that is left is god mode people with massive sever lag. Cause people don't like "Resets" that well kill the game on a whole other level. No one wants to play a lag infested game cause a few cried about it. I"m looking forward to it same with all my friends. Seasons are a thing dude get on board or wait for the severs that won't be resetting. That is all you can do.

after 50h , after reading this, i do not have much interest to play further
How long does it even take, in terms of hours of gameplay, to get through the content of the season?

Because you do not get my point of lifetime of games, sidestepping that this is no MMO. You are obviously trolling.

Why are you trying to deceive people?
In Conan Exiles there are NO wipes on OFFICIAL servers. I have 1500 hours in Konan, zero wipes.

It's not worth it to lie!
It's a more friendly version of the ARPG season model that you find in Diablo or path of exile etc, where you carry nothing over between seasons.

I really wish people would stop pretending that survival craft games, such as Conan Exiles and Rust, has permanent servers that don't wipe. They may be private, but it's an option that Once Human does not offer. As such, you're comparing oranges and apples.

Yes, but Diablo and PoE also has permanent options. My PoE character from about 10 years ago still exists today.

No, I get your "point", the problem is that your point is misguided and on shaky ground at best because your expectations and assumptions of this game, and what it actually is in reality, are completely at odds with each other.

Just throwing your hands in the air and saying I'm "trolling" because I disagree is a weak excuse to hide the fact that you only want to be "right" and can't accept that you're not being specifically catered to.
