2 new start-up programs?
Any reason for 2 start-up programs to be installed after installing Once Human?
their names arent bring my worries up and not having a file location does seem fishy.

Any tech-heads know what these are?

so how do we remove these? The game is deleted for now but there's no immediately obvious way to remove these 2 startup programs.

If you want to get rid of the two startup files, open registry and paste "Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run" then delete both AF_counter and AF_uuid. That should get rid of the two startup files that came with the game.

Uninstalled the game. Disabled both startup process. Deleted both regedit files you guys mentioned.
Every time I restart my PC they both appear back.

If you used Autoruns from Microsoft and deleted 2 entries, they dont show up on restart, only when you start game again.
If you have something there after doing that, its not Once Human, its something else

Edit: Okay. So it needs elevated right for "reasons". But I still don't see any hidden sys files in any locations.

Look into Sysinternals Autoruns you can find here NEProtect service and steamapps\common\Once Human\NEProtect.sys record that leads to nowhere.

Okay. So again, they've left in old install crap for the Chinese market that wasn't removed properly. That .sys file doesn't exist so it doesn't do anything anyway.

The same thing where they put the registry entries in the wrong registry. Looks like there's a good amount of stuff that's misconfigured or has not been properly deleted from their production build.

In the case of Once Human, considering the state of the game in general, I'm far more inclined to believing development screwups than I am in nefarious purposes.

Edit: Quick search on the web gives 0 hits for "NEProtect.sys", but does pop up with NetProtect, which is a mobile DNS based protection layer to avoid visiting "bad" websites on mobile devices.

Combined with the rest of the mobile oriented services we've found in the game, that seems to be the closest match I can find.

Then it's something else. Regardless the files that show up for this game are dead files that aren't active in your task manager.

I'm sure Once Human isn't the only game that uses this. Are you starting any games at all before you check, or do you check immediately after reboot?

The left over files is nothing to worry about but people are going to be dramatic about it, how else would they receive attention.

Gonna try Autoruns. I'm not starting the game since I've deleted it. Literally just booted up my PC, didn't even launched a thing

Yep, I'm not starting a single program when rebooting. The only thing that is there is Nvidia Geforce. These things where never in my PC before.

So, as this guy suggested, Autoruns did it for me. Only after using Autoruns they both where gone from everything. Thanks for the help!

why did you delete it? it was an american spyware. that's good, right?

First of all, you are an actual NPC.
Second of all, i don't like any type of spyware, i actively remove all my data from everywhere as much as i can.
I don't like those filthy americans having any of my data either.

UUID is basically to identify your PC while the counter is to track the amount of times the games been executed and such the weird part is more so that its on startup. Riot Vanguard also appears on start up to my knowledge as well and that could potentially do the same

Company that tracks install/uninstalls on mobile devices. The string of weird characters is your assigned device ID, the number is the amount of executions/installs you've done of the tracked app.

Why this installs anything in "Startup" on Windows beats me, it does not belong there and is dodgy as hell. The analytics software itself is just that, analytics software. Do with that what you will.

Edit: These 2 values should be in the registry, not in startup. Some intern has no -ing clue how Windows works.
You expect asian devs are that smart?

At least netcode is decent for asian devs…
