We're living in a time where people think China is trustworthy.

Okay.

The fact that they can "receive" these things proves without a doubt they're harvesting it, and are asking you to provide "consent" because you're not based in China. Because, guess what, if local laws demands a company do a thing, they don't need your written consent.
I don't trust china but every other game is doing the same, people play valorant or LoL that does exactly the same stuff and is owned by Chinese mega corp tencent which also have stakes in every big western studios as well like Ubisoft or blizzard.

And no, they cannot harvest it, they can request it but I guess you can't or didn't want to read the policy with a degree of understanding.

In some countries you are required to provide your id, address etc for online gaming and that's why the policy states that.

You can argue with Thor, a.k.a Pirate Software.

He is a game dev and totally knows more about this than you. That is where that quote is from.

it's definitely odd but its remnant of mobile analytics from the american (marketing) company appflyer, you'll have to ask them why they store it there instead of somewhere else, probably because it's universally accessible and doesn't take space. Those damn llazy sanfran commies didn't bother renaming their files like every other dev does
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AppsFlyer

p.s. you can disable them with no issue because they don't actually do anything except show how many times you've launched the game it seems

Registry processes usually have names like that, they just haven't gone to the trouble of masking the processes with names like some games do

If you really believe that, then you have already reached the flat earth level of thinking :-/

But this game still poses a danger in my eyes, because it significantly lowers the standard for good games with the hype that was created around it :-/
You're aware China is a communist, one party country that has cops literally SPY on any visitors (or non nationals) that arrive there, right?

The fact our government hasn't banned any trade interaction with China is proof enough that they can't do anything to protect us. Look at Tiktok. People are resistant to the government trying ANYTHING to protect its citizen's data.

You think the CIA is watching Once Human?

The agreement shouldn't exist. I do not CARE what countries "require" private organizations to spy on its own citizens, I'm not signing something that is giving them permission to take my stuff. It shouldn't have come ANYWHERE NEAR STEAM in its current iteration. Full stop.

As for the official response, it's a bunch of assurances about how they'll use our data "legally" and with "consent". Say... the consent their very agreement asks for. I'm not signing it, and until it's removed I'm not touching this game. More importantly, governments that "require" a company to collect data do not have to get "permission" from its customers. The fact they have this agreement is to target people outside of China.

Ok Boss i make a big and a small picture for you ok!?

Big picture ...

You think there is a software that can hurt us since several years if not a decade or longer and noone in charge is aware of that or doing somethign about it? Not all the people of the gaming industry, not the people of the government and not the rest of the people?

Small picture ...

You, you a little gamer like me, a noone like me, you think you have anything on your pc that the chinese government wants? What do you think could that be hm? Do you think they try to find out how they can sell you trash games for a lot of money or to make you buy things in those trash games? Dude they already know how to do that. Its already that far, that they only need a bunny and a spider bus to make us hype up games like OH or TFD to the heavens. They dont need anything from you, all the tech companys already know everything about us thanks to cookies and other user agreements. They already have anynthing from us. Its not china you should be afraid of, its all big players you should be afraidf of.. But this game here is our least problem trust me bro ;-)

Why are people freaking out? There is not invasive anti cheat nothing i see in the game files that would be flagged as a keylogger or crypto miner game runs great besides a few memory leaks every once in awhile.. What data are ppl worried about being taken what you buy and do in game??? That almost every game company does?

Those 2 are some kinda virus masked as system 32. THOUGHTS???

This is going to be a copy paste, but it's not a virus, dw, just an incompetent port job from mobile to pc.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
These 2 startup apps actually aren't apps at all, they should be inside the game registry but for some reason is registered as start up apps and does look worrying. It's an analytic software for Installs and uninstalls.

It's from this company https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AppsFlyer

The character strings is your assigned device ID, and the singular digit number is the amount of times you installed the game

They are a company that tracks installs/uninstalls for mobile games, for some reason it was included in the PC release of the game (like summoners war). If you are wondering why this is here, this game is actually a mobile game ported to PC.

Due to it being installed improperly, these "apps" aren't deleted when you uninstall the game. If you are playing the game actively, disable the process on startup as it'll restore the files every time you launch the game.

If you uninstalled and want the files gone, you'll want to run this string in your registery "Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run" and delete the "AF_counter" and "AF_uuid" files

Yes they want to use my given personal information. But there's nothing there... except the stuff every other company has too.
Gamertag, email, payment method etc...

Unless you create an account on their website and give them your data... or maybe purchase some ♥♥♥♥ from them..

Argument to authority. It's cute, but other chinese companies don't have the written Terms this has. So congrats
