*BEWARE* They grab a lot of IMPORTANT information from you:
PERSONAL INFORMATION WE COLLECT:
- first and last name, title, prefix, email address, telephone number, (instant) messaging account, postal address, **and government-issued ID, passport information** (why do they want my f*cking gov ID???) Weirdos
- Social Media Information: name/nickname/username as it appears on your social media account profile, profile pictures, social media account ID, **associated email address and other social media profile information, including lists of friends on social media.**
- And more sh*t they collect, check out their privacy policy.

I dont know, I just wanted to let you guys know.
For me, it's f*cking weird all the sh*t they collect, I'm no longer interested in playing a game if I'm turned into a product.

Yet you guys have phones and facebook and they been selling all your information for years.
Almost any electronic devices sell your info, internet and phone companies just paid like 700 million for doing so but you're worried about a game.
So it's ok to keep doing it, or not calling it out? You are either with the company that makes this game, a shill, or someone that's absolutely given up on thinking at all.

Even Steam datamines you, and yet your posting about games within Steam?

You're already a product though?
This is nothing new, you are on the internet for crying out loud.

I love how people's excuses on them being okay with this boils down to them saying "I like to just lay there and let them have their way with me". Y'all are some sheep lol

you do realize you give away most of this data for free half the time you use your phone right? how do you think you get random phone calls trying to sell you "extended warranties for your car"

You realize Once Human doesn't have my social media account? Where would they be getting my phone number, that's also no tied to this or steam. Only thing they might get is your email. Even if they got your facebook they can't see friends unless you allow that on your account. They're not psychics....

Sadly this is the same for 99% of games. You just never read the eula on them.

Which other games in the West grab 'government-issued ID' information?

In the UK you are required to provide your ID on PSN for age verification purposes.

this game needs to be banned by steam

The debate should be why is it necessary just to play an online game?

Why even require some of this stuff? Can the resident experts detail this?

Seems like we have many examples of Mizaru, Kikazaru and Iwazaru out there, who either ignore or are ignorant of so many personal data breaches or abuse of personal data. Ignorant of the harm it causes, until you suffer the pain.

If some of you want to give out your personal information willy-nilly to every company out there, then good for you. Just be willing to pay the painful price for such a laid-back attitude when things go south..

But because of the documented history and evidence of abuse of personal data, the rest of us would rather not risk it if the information is not essential to the use and function of the game.

And I have never handed over details of my 'government-issued ID' to use a MMO before. So why the essential need now?

What your missing is in china it is mandatory to hand over government ID while gaming. The game hasn't asked me for nothing of the sort however the company themselves are Chinese. The EULA isn't made for us, it's made for them.

This is pretty obvious when a Chinese game comes out and the only way to get an account is by purchasing off a Dodgy site because it's linked to people's ID's, Korea games are less demanding and only ask for a Korean mobile number etc (whether or not the numbers are linked to ID I have no idea)

Peak stupidity from the TikTok generation (as expected) saying "oh but everything collects your data", this is a GAME it has no reason to collect data such as your government ID or address where you live, wtf is a game supposed to do with that? Think before you defend such stuff, stupid.

Don't be obtuse, my guy. They absolutely have a reason to collect this information, because they couldn't provide you the game or its services if they didn't.

1: Many countries require players to provide a govt-issued ID to create accounts (like China and Korea). This is THE GOVT requiring the collection of this info, not the game company. They are just complying with regional law.

2: Maybe you have never purchased anything online ever with a credit card, but literally every time you do you have to provide the "Billing Address".

If your laws don't require you to provide an ID, then the "game company" isn't getting that info. If you do not purchase anything from them, then they aren't getting any of the info you are required to provide in order to make the purchase.

All the EULA is doing is telling you what they have to collect in order to take advantage of certain features. That's why 99% of it is prefaced with "IF YOU...". In other words, if you don't want to provide that data, then don't. Don't attach your Social Media. Don't purchase anything.
