"Cannot build in a public world" ?

I built my first base now Im moving it, nearer the sea on the beach but everywhere I try I get
"Cannot build that in public world"

Is building on beaches not allowed ?

never mind i just moved to a different beach, maybe there was an event going on nearby

Figured this out:
The "public world" is an area surrounded by a shimmering purple wall, but the wall only appears when you're near it. The two I've found are smallish, so just wander a bit until you hit the border. You can build on the outside. Once you see the border, it's easy to follow, so you can map it our a little.

You can't build in a public world, nor right outside (about 100m or so). When you try to build within that range, the hologram of the building will turn red, like any unplaceable build

I guess "public world" is the phrase for quest or event areas?

Same problem here too, I spent a fortune buying everything I wanted a few months ago... now I went to play and I can't build my camp anywhere... the game tells me that it's not possible to build in public session... wtf?! Where am I going to build then, bunch of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥?...

You replied to a thread which is almost one year old but did not read what they found out? There might be an event zone or a stardust zone and if so you can not build there.

Oh, and if its the camp and not the base you tried to build it also might be that you need a flatter ground or whatever but the game will tell you.

Hmmm, just noticed that it looks like you don't even play the game.........
