Windows 7?
Does it start under Windows 7?

(And yes, everyone knows that official support for the "commercial" version has been discontinued. Therefore, this post needs no further comment on this and it would be great to just limit ourselves to the question!)

Best regards

Might not be many people trying it on Win7 to be honest. You may have to answer that question yourself.

You do have the game and it should be a question that you can answer yourself for the folks that could give you the answer is people who has the game and running Window 7.

I will do that too, especially because I know how to get Unreal Engine 5 to run under Windows 7, if that's the only problem.

But I'll look at it later, so I've already asked the question in case someone is quicker.

It could be that there are still adjustments in the game from the development period that take Windows 7 into account. Because it only uses DX11.

Yes, an OS predating skyrim will 100% not have any single issue running a game released this year in 2024. Absolutely no reason to upgrade at all.

Haven't gotten around to it yet. But I'll let you know when I've tried it. :)

I know that young people today find it difficult to understand computer technology in relation to software.

The software required to run applications can still be updated to the latest version on Windows 7. Net Framework and C++ are often used, which previously only required a 64-bit operating system (no matter which one). The graphics engines, depending on which one, are partly independent of this. Only DX12 came exclusively for Windows 10, but even then MS developers were given the option of running their application with DX12 on Windows 7. Just not natively, which is why the developers had to integrate it first. Of course, this option is no longer being pursued. But developers for World of Warcraft and even smaller titles have done so, and it still works today.

The best advantages are currently with new games that rely on Vulkan.

From Windows 11 (but it has to be said that you are really slowly giving up your privacy if you have no idea how to put a stop to it), the faster memory interface software solution came. But hardly any application has used it yet.

And security updates are still available today through a bypass via the classic Windows Updater and other options, thanks to companies that still run their systems with it and pay for it. Probably until 2026 at least. But probably even longer....

Best regards :-)

no luck for me on Win7 so far... at launch it said can't find d3d12.dll so i put that in, then can't find api-ms-win-core-path-l1-1-0.dll so i put that in, and now it says error 0xc000007b
I'm thinking it's not gonna work on Win7 :(

As someone that ran win7 up until Aug of last year, i can tell you that MS is actively paying devs to completely disregard coding a path for win 7, at all. They have bee doing this for like 4 years now. Truthfully, it is time to upgrade.
