What genre is this?

Looking at tags usually just a waste of times since they are unaccurate af like hogy Dragons Dogma is labelled as multiplayer coop when you cant even play with others and such so I ask instead.

Is this a sandbox survival or a battleroyal? Can I just enjoy the pve with friends on private server like in other sandbox games or am I forced to the pvp trash with fapperroyal elements? I grew out from pvp games and just want to enjoy a some coop games with my friends in peace. The game looked nice and the pve fun, but when I saw the pvp it disencouraged me. That is why I want a clerification from PLAYERS instead of deepest layer of trash known as gamejournalists or game articles who cant even tell apart soulslikes from call of duty.

Its a survival shooter multiplayer game, but its not a classic MMORPG.

i like to describe it as once human a new kind of game type i dub the style kitchen sink it has it all

It's very 'light' on survival. Other than the 'stay alive' factor. Food, weapon/armor degrades, base management are all very low threshold survival level. Easily mitigated.

the foods you eat matter you can get fatter or skinneyer and your game weight will make you faster and weaker or stronger and slower

You can play it in peace, there are seperate servers for PVP and PVE
