It wasn't just combat difficulty that changed either. Everything was more challenging. Progression through the memetic tree was slower and you had to earn that advancement by defeating bosses that were actually challenging. Survival mechanics like obtaining good food and clean water took a lot more effort; keeping your character healthy and fit was actually a thing (and one that most players struggled to succeed with). Even just maintaining a prospering garden took some effort.
Now none of that is true and the game just throws progression at the player as quickly as possible, probably to help you consume all the content so you can be ready for the seasonal wipe after 6 weeks and do it all over again.
So much effort was put into creating this virtual world and to see it wasted like this.. I don't know what they were thinking.
Such promise ruined...
Except when litterally dropping out of the sky, the "shroud/circle",
are the quests you've completed. At the end of your playtime..
You just have to do it all over again in the next match, which takes 6 weeks.
Its also on mobile, so thats why they made it as easy as it is.
I do like some aspects of this game very much, but sad to see it go this way.
Higher tiers should remove the basic easy enemies and start populating with harder elites. Bosses should require groups the higher you go up in tiers. Everything should become a nightmare the higher you go basically. Or they could just have tier servers. Basically like world tiers but the server is locked to certain difficulties.
Personally, I like the current difficulty but I'm not decking out anything really. I'm running solo since it's just a demo but not sure anyone I know would play this anyway. I'm just taking my time, exploring and figuring stuff out. I'm older now so don't play difficult games anymore since I don't find them fun like I used to. But having some type of tier difficulty system could solve the problems, at least IMO. I'd be able to chill on tier 1-3 and you guys can get wrekt on tier 9-10 while laughing about it. O-o
To each their own.
EDIT: Enemy A.I. needs a lot of work since they are easy to dodge and offer no real challenge. Making smarter A.I. might also help with a tier system.
I will probs play one season but thats going to be it, but I highly doubt Imma be able to even finish it if the game remains this boring,
I cannot imagine playing through as you said such sleep inducing gameplay over and over and over every six weeks after restarting
For what? to unlock a weapon....yay not worth it fam
There is no difficulty because this is just another mobile game released on steam lol.
1. They are putting it on mobile and ya mobile games by nature cannot be hard because of limitations.
2. People who are absolutely terrible at games cried it was to hard and so it got dumbed down to their level
3. The season model, the game cannot be hard or grindy if they are going for six week seasons it just cannot be otherwise it would take far to many people to long and they would fail to complete the seasons resulting in the devs losing money because no one will buy their skins or battlepass (yeah the game is coming with a battlepass the Chinese version has it already)
So you put these three things together and the result is what we have now
Ah I wonder why they went that route and yea this just feels/plays like all the other generic ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ p2w zombie "survival" games on mobile released on steam to now tbh.....
More things to, but we lost all of that and got what was in the demo instead
My gameplay is made more difficulty because I have to stop, find the "F" key and press it once or twice each and every time I have to interact with my base benches, opening doors, picking up loot, opening crates, picking up enemy weapons and barrels and I believe backstabbing and other such tasks. I don't have time to actually judge the difficulty because most of the time I'm looking for the hardocded "F" to do everything. SO many things require that one key and they go and hardcode it. WTF?
One thing I've noticed with games marked "Survival" is you have players like my nephews that want it hardcore like No Man's Sky on a hostile planet in the very beginning of a game where you are literally dying as soon as the game starts and you are running around as fast as you can to stay alive and doing that the whole game.
Than there are players like me that hate that type of extreme survival and want it more like Valheim where we do not have to micro manage our thirst and health all the time and can chill. Minimal micro management but with all the other survival crafting and gathering stuff.
Unless there is some kind of tier/difficulty setting players can increase and decrease to fit their playstyle I do not see both sides being happy with the same product. There needs to be a way to turn up the difficulty for players that want more of a challenge including increased thirst, hunger and sanity loss and more difficulty enemies.
To each their own.
Honestly to me the game is stuck between people who want CBT 2 and the current game we have now.
I want CBT 2 without the weight management feature even I think thats just to much, with a better balanced capture devain system, I actually want to work to make my pals "stronger" in a persistent world that is update with new content
