The whole time I'm just sitting here thinking about Black Desert Online launch in NA and EU and Kakao / Pearl Abyss made the same bold statement that their cash shop would have ZERO P2W items, despite the game being hard coded with limited inventory and everyone knows, Pay for Convenience = P2W not to mention, 2 weeks after launch, they already had under garments with +1 luck in the cash shop.
So when a game company claims their game won't be P2W and can't even keep that promise for more than 2 weeks, well, I don't hold my breath for those claims anymore, especially when a game is designed in such a way that it will definitely be P2W.

i mean it is possible, that after beta, come august launch, they pull a fast one and make things super inconvenient and add the solution in the store.... but it hasn't happened yet. (though the last minute switch would remind you more of archage, not black desert...)
my personal turn off is battle passes of any kind. cosmetics, fomo, etc. i just have no interest. even if the pass was free, the tasks are extremely boring. not satisfying.
so they should really pivot away from battlepass unless they make it fun to progress through, which would be extremely rare in this industry right now.
This has nothing to do with people being salty. This company is "new" and yet they want to win GOTY in 2024. Well, you don't win GOTY with making stupid decisions.
Damage control at it's finest.
And yes, bots are a problem.
It's not about money. It's about how a company handles ♥♥♥♥ and I realize they are a new company, but with NetEase guiding them, I guarantee you it will eventually go P2W.
