I do hope it comes sooner rather than later (got a few friends getting this on the gamepass on xbox). But if I remember rightly they said that they would try and have it ready for release but if not a little after it.

They did.
That's the last info I have on the subject, dating back early March.
The fact that they haven't said anything about it since, and the next beta not having crossplay, makes me think it's less and less likely to be ready for release.
