Sorry to hear that you're facing a black screen of some kind when launching the game.
I would first like to suggest you try the steps out from this PC technical support article [www.ubisoft.com]
and please ensure that you have verified your game files as well.
Additionally, I recommend that the game and both of the newest versions of the Ubisoft Connect and Steam launcher are all installed on the same, preferably C, hard drive as this is optimal for all Ubisoft games.
Could I ask which GPU you're currently using? And any other specs (CPU, OS, laptop or PC?).
It may also be worth trying out running the game with compatibility mode [www.ubisoft.com], due to it being an older game.
