Nice of steam to continue selling this when it doesn't even work..... Any suggestions people? The Black Screen of doom just lingers when I start the game in the intro.

1. check pc specs
2. contact ubisoft/steam
3.unistall and install it back

Those are options

They're still selling it because not everyone has this problem, actually not alot of people do in general. I myself haven't had a single problem with the game. Apparently going into the steam > steamapps > common > south park folder then deleting the config.ini file will fix it

generally speaking unless the bugs effect 100% of the users steam won't stop selling the game.. I have zero issues running the game as do thousands of other people.. the issue is most likely on your end, it's either your PC isn't good enough to run the game... some of your drivers are out of date, or you have another program which is causing the game to not run.

Check your specs, if they are atleast at the minimum... (they should be this game can run on a toaster), try to make sure your drivers are up to date.. mainly your video drivers. If that is the case,, open up task manager and slowly exit out some running programs.. make sure you don't shut down any of the important ones or it can cause your PC to become unstable..

If none of those things work try to contact UBI or steam support..

Last ditch potential fix.. try to run the game as an administrator. occasionally that can fix issues with games..

i'm getting this too. unable to play. it defaults to full screen. loads black screen for 1-3 seconds, then minimizes. (doesn't shut down)

i went to config file and turned full screen = false. now it loads in smaller window size, and i can actually hear some logo sound this way. but it is still black screen, followed quickly by entire program shutting down.

no clue what to do except ask steam for a refund. i've already verified game files. my pc is way above min specs. my gpu drivers are updated far beyond the release of this game. i'm using windows 7 64bit, i7 3770k, 16GB ram, ssd, gtx 770

my issue was black screen and crash on launch after first attempt at loading game.

solution was to go to steam folder and open game "config" file and change this (to dx9 mode): use_directx_11 = false

Could you explain that even further, such as was that true before and should we change it to false or you want us to change the directx_11 to something such as directx_9. Ellaborate further please.

I was having a black screen issue with the sound of ubisoft logo, then just black screen.

I went to the config file
"use_directx_11 = false" was already set
but i changed "full_screen = 1"
to "full_screen = 0"
and it works now

plus i have multi screens

I simply went to: ~Steam\SteamApps\common\South Park The Fractured But Whole and ran SouthPark_TFBW.exe as administrator. Seems to fix it for me..
