Arrow firing question

I'm in the school trying to bail Craig out of detention. I'm wanting to use my arrows to hit objects while not in battle. I press the F key to shoot something but now the F key directs my 'buddy' to that object. How do you shoot arrows now?

Help me out please. Anyone else having this problem?

Whenever you hit the "Q" key it switches the action for the "F" key. It's how you switch between firing a projectile, buddy actions, and (once you reach that point) the teleportation probe...

It gets confusing but once you press Q it'll all make sense. Best of luck :)
