i have went to the sewer but how do i put down the defibrillator

You have to venture deeper into the sewers probably. There is a generator somewhere near the entrance, but you need a skill to get there that you can't unlock on the first day (as in the first, in-game day). There are a few other places in the game you can't get to until you advance the story to a point where you unlock something, so don't worry if you're stuck on a side-quest. Just go to the next sidequest or go forth with the main story then try again.

Spoilers about sewer WARNING
You need to cross the gap, which means you need to pass the space ship be on Day 2.
Once you cross the gap its the first generator you come to, its yellow and its hard to miss.
