Windows 7
then it ain;t an ops error, I'm on 8
Is there another process besides southpark.exe (or whatever it's called) that Steam tries to start when you boot up the game? Try opening your task manager *before* you start the game, and see if you can see more than just southpark trying to open, or if you can see multiple copies of southpark trying to open. But this error has *something* to do with the processes your computer is currently running or trying to run. If this was an older PC or if this was 2007 or so, I'd suggest checking out a RAM Defragment utility of some sort. I don't think that's really worth looking into on a modern PC though. This issue DOES remind me of the sorts of issues that would necessitate trying a RAM Defrag back with older computers tho.

Just to double check, you DID try running both the game AND steam itself in Admin mode? (Or did I suggest that in another thread...?)
Windows 7. Bootcamp'd, though, but I've never had an issue before this. So I'm not sure if that matters or not

WHAT DID I JUST GET DONE ASKING PEOPLE NOT TO DO. IF YOU DON;T KNOW BETTER, SHUT UP MAN.
Just tried running it in admin, not changing anything
yeah I tried that too. No dice. With how quickly the game says the error on startup, and that no process is started when it does, I'm going to say this is more than likely tied to the steam integration and or some sort of DRM protection.
trying a steam client update, see if that does anything

Some of us have had the same issue with various Steam games (not just South Park), and this is what we did to fix the issue. Everyone has different PC's though so sometimes that necessitates asking questions or clarifying something to find out why a solution that works for half the folks here isn't working for the other folks. I am a professional at this tech support stuff and there has to be a lot of give & take and some teamwork when it comes to finding solutions. It's not always a matter of finding the "one size fits all" solution. Hence, questions, a few wild ideas, and a bit of detective work.

SWEET CUPPIN CAKES PEOPLE WE HAVE LIFTOFF
trying the client update too
its saying i have a 46.88 mb client update, but it isnt updating. The progress bar isnt moving
its "updating" now, but the progress bar keeps going up and down and not having a solid progression
That's kinda weird. I just got the beta client update popup too, and it went through just fine. Hopefully the update actually finishes up and takes care of the issue. As it stands, this does possibly suggest (to me, anyway) that the issue is more specifically with the Steam cleint and not with the game itself. Mainly cuz your Steam client is being so wonky atm. /fingerscrossed that your update finishes & resolves your wonkiness.
I'm having trouble updating. It goes up and down radically and randomly before giving me an error saying i have to be connected to the internet. I have been streaming hulu and youtube so my internet is fine
