I have no idea what you will be getting if you buy it from a key selling site. My top post explains what version you should get if you are to buy the game directly though the steam client/website.
Its still rated R here on the packaging in australia with no notification of censorship, but if i buy it from online stores, theres really no way of telling what version it is from whats on the item currently.
All the stick of thruths in south/north America look identicle to ours.
Woud've bought the game for sure as I do with all my games but this is the worst version management that I ever heard of and I don't think that this was intended by the south park creators.
And not sure why the anger at the developer and/or publisher. The companies are compelled by law to censor the game in your respective countries I imagine under penalty of law if they do not. It is your countries' rules and not the developer or publisher who is at "fault."
I think if I lived in those censored countries I would just buy the censored game and watch the censored parts on youtube as I'm sure they are just a small part of the game and you may risk having your steam account banned.
aaaa - you would take the game for free because of your country's laws?
I don't mean this to come off wrong. I am truly curious about this stuff and not attacking anyone over this stuff.
funny thing is, the episode with mel gibson (christianity, jews, hitler) wasnt censored, at least i didnt notice any censoring, which makes this even more absurd. or remember the old helloween episode with cartman dressed as hitler? same thing, no censoring.
Unless they went even farther with the game than they typically do in the show?
Anyway, too bad we can't have a universal version of the game and some people have to get a censored version.
its just that we got all those old laws, politicians and institutions trying to control every thing.
look at sega/virgin and alien vs. predator 2010. they were flipping the middlefinger at germany for all that and didnt even release their game over here, cause they knew they couldnt get through all these hoops with their adultgame, so we couldnt buy it on steam without a vpn, and playing via vpn.
dead space of EA would have shared that destiny, but EA knows how big the market is over here and tried it 3 times till the insitutions finally accepted it as is. and accepted as in uncut.
long story short,
its no surprise that alot of devs and publishers are pissed off of our laws and restrictions over here and try out different strategies.
but there is hope - a few weeks ago these institutions came to the conclusion that games are in fact art (d'oh), which will hopefully endup in a more mature point of view and less restrictions. but this nazi stuff is different cause of the laws.
so i dunno..
i think that "producer" on reddit doesnt really know what hes talking about.
