Censorship Clarification
From the (supposed) Associate Producer on the game for Ubisoft.

"We did make a separate version just for Germany/Austria.
There's actually 5 versions: North/South America, Europe, Germany, Australia, and Russia.

Only the North/South American one is completely uncensored on every platform.

The Australian one is censored on all platforms, the European and Russian ones are censored on console only, the German one is censored on console for anal probing etct, and censored on both console and PC for swastikas, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ arm salutes, etc.

Just trying to clear up what is what where."

How to tell which version you're getting when buying from Steam:

Check in Steam what languages it supports and you'll be able to tell:

Australian - English only
German - English/German only
Russian - Russian/English only
European and North/South American - English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Polish, Brazilian Portuguese and Russian

European and North/South American = uncensored on PC

EDIT: Ubisoft Producer has come back to say that this method may longer work.
He is not sure what version you will be getting. Very frustrating, seems there is no way to be sure now.

Sorry :(

So If I buy a key from a website and I activate it with a US IP I get the EU/N-S American version? So confusing

wish we could choose which version we were geting, the majority of people that will buy this game are fans of the series... we won't stand for censorship >=(

I have no idea what you will be getting if you buy it from a key selling site. My top post explains what version you should get if you are to buy the game directly though the steam client/website.

Omg!!! It says in the post how to tell what version you are getting!! Jesus!!!

Its still rated R here on the packaging in australia with no notification of censorship, but if i buy it from online stores, theres really no way of telling what version it is from whats on the item currently.

All the stick of thruths in south/north America look identicle to ours.

I live in germany which means that I will pirate the US version.
Woud've bought the game for sure as I do with all my games but this is the worst version management that I ever heard of and I don't think that this was intended by the south park creators.

Just out of curiosity - Is the South Park television show censored in your countries also?

And not sure why the anger at the developer and/or publisher. The companies are compelled by law to censor the game in your respective countries I imagine under penalty of law if they do not. It is your countries' rules and not the developer or publisher who is at "fault."

I think if I lived in those censored countries I would just buy the censored game and watch the censored parts on youtube as I'm sure they are just a small part of the game and you may risk having your steam account banned.

aaaa - you would take the game for free because of your country's laws?

I don't mean this to come off wrong. I am truly curious about this stuff and not attacking anyone over this stuff.

in germany the censoring of the show is pretty much non-existent anymore. they used to beep-out some words in the first seasons, but thats a long time ago. the only thing they really censored over here are the episodes s14 e5 & 6, they didnt show them on tv and you cant watch them on the official site, due to a region lock. think there was something in it regarding muslims, wasnt it? cant remember. but i do remember alot of fuss about it and alot of people over here feeling offended by it.
funny thing is, the episode with mel gibson (christianity, jews, hitler) wasnt censored, at least i didnt notice any censoring, which makes this even more absurd. or remember the old helloween episode with cartman dressed as hitler? same thing, no censoring.

Honestly, I've only seen one episode. I was just curious if the stuff they censored in the game were things that were in some of the shows. I thought it was an adult show to begin with. I have seen the youtube montage of the main character asking his mom if she would like to **** in the ***, so seems weird if that is in the show that is being censored in the game.

Unless they went even farther with the game than they typically do in the show?

Anyway, too bad we can't have a universal version of the game and some people have to get a censored version.

well, most of the people you could ask over here will see it in the same way as you do.
its just that we got all those old laws, politicians and institutions trying to control every thing.

look at sega/virgin and alien vs. predator 2010. they were flipping the middlefinger at germany for all that and didnt even release their game over here, cause they knew they couldnt get through all these hoops with their adultgame, so we couldnt buy it on steam without a vpn, and playing via vpn.

dead space of EA would have shared that destiny, but EA knows how big the market is over here and tried it 3 times till the insitutions finally accepted it as is. and accepted as in uncut.

long story short,
its no surprise that alot of devs and publishers are pissed off of our laws and restrictions over here and try out different strategies.

but there is hope - a few weeks ago these institutions came to the conclusion that games are in fact art (d'oh), which will hopefully endup in a more mature point of view and less restrictions. but this nazi stuff is different cause of the laws.

i just checked my local steam store page, as the quote in the OP says to check, and it says it supports all the the languages like the rest of europe (rest of the world). but it also says its low violence, and in account details theres the (DE) behind it.

so i dunno..
i think that "producer" on reddit doesnt really know what hes talking about.

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ censorship... I'm an adult. I should be able to choose to buy an uncensored game if I want it. This sort of thing is what can drive people back to piracy... This really infuriates me...

Can we keep bumping this so people stop friggin' asking?
