Being only level 1 or 2 costumes they're not that useful and you quickly find or buy better alternatives anyway. You certainly don't NEED them.
If a few in-game costumes are worth $5 to you by all means go ahead. I got them by pre-ordering but I probably wouldn't buy them, at least not outside of sale at a significant discount.
They all stayed in my locker during the entirety of both of my playthroughs.
What the heck does the "emergency shields" do on the spaceman?
Is it a damage absorption? An attack absorption? A heal? Does it proc randomly, or below a certain amount of health?
True, they're downloadable, but to suggest they in any way add content is a bit thin.
I like the game, there's plenty of references to the show and a bit of thought has gone into the adapting of turn based RPG format for a 10-11hr game.
BUT, how about real DLC, quests and characters, I'd rather pay for real content than be left feeling like i've been ripped off.
Calm down, it's pre-order bonuses released as pay-for DLC AFTER the pre-order period.
Better to have the option to pay for pre-order items you missed out on, than to not have them available at all.
Afterall, you don't need to buy them.
While the cost makes it clear that it is a low value item, releasing costumes that have no value or impact on the game other than giving the character more stuff to sell seems a bit insulting on what is an adult game.
The least they could have done is labled them with L1&2.
Thing is, the levels of items don't actually matter that much in the game. True, BETTER items come at later levels, but this isn't always the case. I personally found the samurai helmet and the spaceman outfit highly useful, because the spaceman gives rebirth - an effect which you don't encounter until far later in the game, and having an emergency ressurrection is awesome.
I'll admit it's kind of an omission that they didn't mention the levels of the items, but it's also kind of implicit. You get them at the start of the game meaning they're usable from the start, which means they're either low level or they level with you - the latter would be both potentially gamebreaking and secondly kinda pointless for the reason I made in my first para.
My point is that the line between DLC and addons is starting to get very blurred, costumes armour and guns aren't DLC they have no content and make no addition to the game.
If you had to kill some one new or fart on them to get it then it would be DLC I guess.
I 100% can't agree with that.
It IS content, it does add something to the game. What does it add? It adds the armour and weapons. If you didn't have the DLC, you'd be missing that content.
DLC and addon are synonyms, or at least, all DLC is an addon, not all addons are DLC. Because addons can include mods and disc-based-expansions - i.e not "downloadable".
