i mean seriously, what? how old are you? have you literally only started gaming with the 360/pstriple era?

I dislike the turn based combat system. It is the reason I am not buying this game.

And this is what I dont get. I dont like FPS, but you dont see going on their boards and telling em that.
If you dislike it, thats your thing. So explain to me, why are you here, if you`re not going to buy it, if you activly dislike the genre its in.
Yea right, you`re trolling or incredibly bored (or both)

i've been playing RPG's etc forever and as a vet i can say i still hate turn based it's skilless "punch-for-punch" mechanics honestly. i've been playing RPGs since like sega gens and turbografx16 it's just a matter of taste my friend. doesn't mean you started to play games in the 360 era if you don't like turn based. that's one reason i never got into the FF games and thought they were such boring games (story wise they have always been fabulous but the turn based skilless fighting is very off putting) and yes i'm aware most RPGs did this but not all did. legend of mana is a great example it was more action RPG like zelda obv zelda is another one and my fav (if i had to pick turn based boringness) shining force because at least it was "tactics" which FF eventually even adopted with FF tactics. that would honestly be the only way i could say i like turn based, is if you are able to at least move your player into positions because then it actually adds strategy. i'm sorry but turn based is seriously skilless and just "punch-for-punch" and whoever has the better gear/magic spells and the most health pots is going to win period. that's why they are skilless because it doesn't matter how good you actually are it just matters how much health pots you have and if you have better gear, attacks, spelles etc you will eventually win. keyword EVENTUALLY because again it's punch-for-punch even when you like lose a turn etc or something like that in those kinds of games it never plays serious factors. i mean i remember that's how i used to beat alot of turn based games was just spam the hell out of health pots grind my guy so he's higher lvl than most things i fought and boom no challenge whatso ever with those kinds of games they are just boring. so don't go bashing on people just because they don't like turn based if you were a "true" fan of just RPGS and had "skill" you'd understand that is the worst and most skilless version of an RPG also may i add boring. lol does no one remember games like illusion of gaia for the SNES perfect example of how RPGS could be made without turn based. yes again more of an action-adventure RPG but keyword ACTION. so only way i'd enjoy or settle for turn based stuff is tactic style or of course this game because i love south park and have been waiting forever for it but can i say i like the combat ehhhhh not really because turn based is boring and skilless. will the game still be fun with that factor? i garuntee it will be. still have mine preorderd and will be playing for hours even with the turn based boringness just a small flaw to a great game also as someone mentioned i think with what they are doing with the jokes and the animationsfor moves etc. it will make the combat seem at least less boring so that is a plus for the downside of it being turn based. <3

This is your second post I've seen from you that looks like this. No one wants to read a wall of text, you don't need to keep it short, but for the love of all that is good and holy, learn what a paragraph is!

I just like the implication that anyone who has different tastes to you must be an inexperienced gamer.

Turn-based gives me a retro-feeling - like playing the RPG's on the Genesis and SNES growing up. Glad they went this route.
I normally hate turn-based battle systems. It feels like games just include them because it's normal for the genre. It makes the gameplay slow and repetitive and artificially extends the length of the game.

That said, this game looks like they're actually trying to do something new with the turn-based system so it may be a breath of fresh air for the genre. I'm definitely looking forward to it.
I'm actually thankfull it's a turn based RPG. I myself turn 27 next month and I love turn based RPGs way more than real time rpgs. Games like Earthbound, The Mario & Luigi series, Pokemon series , Disgaia, Persona 4, and of course Mario RPG are some of the best games I've played that are turn based and each one has had great gameplay and story.

What grinds my gears is kids and teens who didn't grow up in the 90s (just cuz you were born in the 90s doesn't make you a 90s kid) who disrespect good games because they either A) aren't 3D graphics B) aren't shooters C) are 32 bits or less (my one friend pisses me off cuz he won't even give earthbound a chance) D) aren't on xbone or ps4 or E) don't use current gen features like quick time events or liscensed soundtracks.

What I'm getting at is don't talk ♥♥♥♥ about a game untill AFTER it's come out and you've seen how it plays. Look at some past incidents....people were HYPED for War Z and look where that ended up. on the other hand when Kingdom Hearts was first announced for ps2 people were like "they're combining disney and final fantasy? This will be aweful!" and it's now one of the best games of all time.
I like it.
I hated turn-based combat back when I played Final Fantasy 7 on the PS1... it's not nearly as fun as actually fighting yourself.

But to each his own.

I was born in '91 and I played plenty of 2D games with bad graphics that weren't shooters that had less than 32bits... just because your nostalgic doesn't mean your old favorite games are the best freakin games ever and every new game should be made that way. More people play games now than ever because games are more fun than ever. They have better ways of telling stories.. they have better ways of letting you feel like you're part of the story. Games from our past were fun, but get real... games are only getting better. And any "difficulty" you associate with older games were not because games were designed to be difficult, but because game developers were limited and had to do stupid things to make their games work... there was a lot of trial and error crap in our older games that made them less fun. Sure they were more rewarding, but a majority of people don't want to sit there sneaking past a guard 50000 times until they figure out the hidden path the developer placed in poorly. And who cares if a game is on the PS4 or XboxOne? There's hardly any games for those systems yet.

Stop acting like you know so much about video games just because you played more ♥♥♥♥.

Also, I played WarZ. It was just as bad as DayZ. In fact, I prefer WarZ because the game actually had better controls and simpler inventory systems. Sure the developers were ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, but I had more fun in Warz than in Dayz.

I personally hate turn based games, and I think you should not be surprised and be sarcastic. Different people have different taste of gaming, which other people should not judge or take seriously. I like fast pace games, where I just move forward with 1 goal set in the horizon with story rich element.

Baldur's Gate 3 is one of the games I'm planning to play soon, when the price drop of course, even though it's turn based game, because why not? There is no harm in trying something new now and then, but most of all, the story and the combat mechanics are both related to me somehow, If the story is great but the combat mechanics are ♥♥♥♥♥♥, then I have no interest and vice versa.
