First of all, I would rebut, or provide rebuttal. Rebuttal is not a verb.

In the context of your initial statement, you have used a word that is far from optimal. Even if you believe that ‘discernible’ has a place in your statement (which clearly it does not), the word ‘hypocritical’ would have been far more appropriate as condemning an action that you then proceed to use is, by very definition, hypocritical.
