The Lute.
I tried other instruments, but the Lute is just the best in my experience to entertain people longer before they got bored and the dreaded 'Almost everyone ignored you' message shows up.
I think Fiama must have killed him in OPs game. It happened to me as well. I found the two were fighting as I walked into meadow for some reason and then Ash died, dropping his guitar, his figurine, his grave that says "Fiama, I'm sorry", and also his pants. Yes he dropped his girdle.
Definately it was Fiama.
Those two can get into fights for two reasons - One, one of them getting drunk and hitting on the other (humorous), and two, Playing music where one of them damages you triggering a follower to become hostile, and the other coming to your defense against the aggressor.
I've had civil wars break out in base over this issue where everyone starts slaughtering eachother, especially when you have residents with the cover trait (like shiba dogs) who will take damage for other residents.
Probably explains why I had better luck with the lute rather than the mic despite the 'it makes your performance better'. I used a mic for a while, but once I got a Rubynus Boomerang, I returned back to the Lute.
Seems like a common thing with Elin.
Even 800 hours in, i'm still being face-punched daily by new mechanics or understandings of things I either never knew or thought I knew and was wrong about.
It's also one of the things I really prize Elin for. A lot of games have a lot of varying features and mechanics, but they lack any supreme depths. In Elin, each mechanic at some point can feel like an entirely new game of it's own.
I'm just sitting here watching this new little tourist i just created, sitting in a quiet isolated field with a grand piano mashing out those keys like a pro, with a whopping 1.00 in music. I think she's better at playing this thing at this point than my Pianist is. (my pianist was a harp meister), which is.. mind blowing.
If you like throwing weapons, Pantsu and gong are great for high DR enemies and the Mic can easily deal over 2d100 late game BEFORE converting its material to something like emerald. Boomerangs do more damage for the same material type, but that takes up an additional inventory slot. Instruments do NOT currently in early access give stat bonuses due to being held as opposed to equipped. Just have fun
Only the instrument you use counts, you're probably getting more from those instrument rooms because that's where the 'high-value' npcs start the mission gathered together.
