Like don't get me wrong, there are still occasionally runs where I'm like "I just got loot screwed hard" but it's been very, very few of my attempts.
Also the first couple treasure determines if you even have a chance at all. No big dps ticket item? Restart run.
Lunar is not balanced at all except for the top percentile of both skill and dps. You can probably be the best at dodging with the assassin but if you cannot hit your target consistently it doesn't matter.
the game ultimately does want you to play with others, it ends up being more forgiving (damage wise) when you have help.
Definitely my experience as well, lunar on solo is just not fun on a lot of fights. On hard, the only fight I thought was bad was the dragon, all the others can be learned pretty well, but the dragon has just too much going on at the same time.
Hmm maybe class matters. Which class do you use for solo luna run?
how. there is no way to influence what you get yet. it would be more reasonable if you could choose chests, reroll them, or there were artifacts or rerolls in the shop... but there aren't.
with itemization currently so terrible, the game SHOULD be balanced around rabbits baseline dps. But it isn't.
Items are cool, its the core of every roguelite which is this game. The randomization of the items is what makes it diverse, somethings works better than others, thats true, but the same item set on different characters make a difference.
What could be cool, might be rerolls of the shop or the items shown on treasures. You might have 3 rerolls per-game, but that saves the hassle of resetting the run.
The DPS checks aren't too bad so long as your luck doesn't just give you 100% defensive items... which, sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't.
Hmm that sounds weird. With 250~ DPS I always see them Enrage. And few minutes ago I just failed with 300 DPS bruiser since I concentrated too much on dodging and failed to hit boss well :P
Nah
Losing to RNG stinks in what is ostensibly a skill-based game.
You have to have skill be able to overcome bad item rng, even if it's harder or easier some runs. This is a hard requirement.
But as it stands, you'll often hard lose to item rng too often. Bad design.
I mean that's ideal damage that I could pull off(seeing previous bosses).
Tbh, there SHOULD be a DPS check after run fails.
