I like them all for different reasons.

1. Metal Gear Solid
2. Metal Gear Solid 3

I'll have to think about the rest.

From best to worst because it's easier:

MGS3 - MGV - MGS5 - MGS:PW - MG acid 2 - MGS2 - MG Rising - MG portable - MG acid 1 - MGS1 - MGS4 - MG Ghost Babel - MG 1 & 2 - MG NES versions - MG mobile - MGS touch - MGS TTS.

I hope I didn't miss any.

MGS3 is a classic, it's so good and I suspect that MGS DELTA will be the first on my list.

Got +500 hours in MGV and +2000 hours in MGS5.
Depends.

From a gameplay/mechanics standpoint, Phantom Pain is simply the best.

From a story standpoint, I simply can't choose just one...

MGS 2 and by a lot. I like the classic, tight corridor, responsive, stealth gameplay. No annoying, constant interrupting camo menuing/switching.

It goes like this for me with the series for the ones I played (Best to Worst): 2, 4, 1, 3, PW, GZ, V.

Very hard to separate the trilogy I have to say. Love the original as it was a groundbreaking game at the time. The second one was an even bigger step up especially in terms of detail and animations plus the third one had a very grounded story and plenty of gameplay variety. I've always rated Sons of Liberty as the best for 20-odd years however having played Snake Eater again with SOL back-to-back, it's probably closer than I realised and SE probably does many aspects better.

I'd probably say 2, 3, 1 but it's fine margins. 4 and V were both great too but I care more about the originals especially as the last two were in development woes and weren't made with the same level of passion despite still being excellent.

This pretty much exactly. I would swap MGS2 and Acid 2 and thats it. Its between MGS3 and TPP for my top spot but I consider them equals in two different styles of games so its almost a tie.

Yeah some titles could be swapped if you asked me the same question later, at the top they are pretty close to each other, here I think the Acid games are at the same level that MGS2 but it's because MG acid series tried something new that they gain some bonus points, If I've made a ranking with S A B C D rank then it would be more accurate.

the first of the MGS subseries is what got me into metal gear, i did have a NES (and still have it) but my parents were not rich so i had hardly any games for it. MGS was released two days after my birthday and to what i remember id seen a demo of MGS in the UKs official playstation magazine,so my mum got it for me ( from a sadly long gone store called Woolworths) ,as it was the first batch it came with a silver MGS memory card and a fully playable demo of 'silent hill' which got me into horror.

MGS was very cheesy at times like some of the chats over codec but it started off my love with the whole series, i woud pick MGS & MGS2 as my ultimate favourites.

Probably MGS > MGS2 > MGS (Game Boy) > MG Acid > MG2 > MGS3 > MGS5 > MGS:TS > MG

Out of those I've played. Never had a PS3 to be able to play MGS4. Maybe the next volume will change that. (I am now in a position to emulate it, but I'd rather just wait.)
