Why is the collection separated like this on PC?
Couldn't they have made it so the separate games are handled as DLCs to one game launcher so we don't have 5 different standalone games?
PS5 and Xbox Series X/S are all in one piece and you can just download whatever you want to install apparently.
Not to say that Japanese and American languages (if you have European on install), need to be installed through SteamDB for whatever reason even tho they work as DLCs of the game (but they don't exist till you do that as such)

its a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ port dude, having separate games is literally the last of it's problems.

Well, I wouldn't call that since it does do the bare minimum but it certainly could have been way better

What is the bare minimum exactly? Not causing a blue screen?
Getting constant sound stuttering, and input delay i wouldn't class as falling under a bare minimum, to me it's waaaaaaaaaaaay below that

I actually like that they are separated, gameplay time tracking ,achivement etc are not messed up together like in Halo collection, also people can see if you playing MGS1 or 2 or 3. Its good for us. Also its allows modding of one game that does not affect another, like reshade for example. Try that with halo collection and you will end up with same reshade applied to all halo games, and need to switch between different profiles for different halo games.

That could still be done if they sold them as DLC to a full launcher but rn the launcher at 1080p closes so a 720p game opens and we have 5 launchers for each part of the collection instead of just one

By bare minimum I mean that as a port it already works better than it's PSVita counterpart for example (not counting MGS1 on this ofc). So they technically did do a bare minimum so it at least works decently. The issues with stuff like you mentioned are indeed horrible but unfortunately, the industry tends to consider the current result the bare minimum :/

That is actually a fair point, tho I still think we should be past the time where seeing the individual time in a collection should be possible as well as show which game you are playing of said collection.

Still, I would like it if, at least, the transition between the menus and the games were seamless like in the console releases rather than the window closing entirely and the game window opening.

Halo does this very thing where all games are sold individually and played in one big hub: https://store.steampowered.com/app/976730/Halo_The_Master_Chief_Collection/

Actually is a nice option , For example the PC port of MG1 (GOG) is a better alternative than the steam port. Same for MG2 , Meaning if you wanted to get only 3 you can buy it cheaper than the whole bundle.

This approach might actually pay off in Vol 2.
Bundled items give you a Discount on Steam if you own part of the bundle. If they use the existing Steam version of 5 for Vol 2 (which would make sense since it's the laziest possible approach) we might actually be able to get Vol 2 cheaper.
maybe.
If they do it right.

yeah I agree, maybe once they release all the volumes maybe they will condense it into one launcher?
The fear why they might not have one now is fear of data mining the future volumes and potential backlash from what is mined. But they should just have one launcher there is no reason not to especially with the master collection UI they have it just makes sense, so hopefully in the future but I wouldn't get my hopes up to be honest

It's funny you say that because data mining the current launcher's code is how we learned about Vol 2's probable contents the code is already in place for one launcher

If they made the games a DLC of a major launcher release (like Retroarch does for all it's emulators for example), that could be done exactly the same way tho.
Bought games could show up in the menu normally while games you didn't buy would show a "Buy Game" option inside of their launcher section instead of showing the normal menu options
