Why no Twin Snakes? Give it to us Konami!
I love original MGS 1 story and hate Twin Snakes cutscenes by Kitamura who just went from theater after watching Matrix and wanted to do the same... but from gameplay and graphical standpoint Twin Snakes is improved remake of original and feels consistent with MGS2 and MGS3, while original MGS1 feels very dated.

So WE ABSOLUTELY NEED TO HAVE BOTH - MGS 1 and MGS TWIN SNAKES IN THIS COLLECTION!

This game is not as bad, as everyone think. Actually if you just take gameplay part - its much better than original, except for boss fights, and biggest problem of Twin Snakes - over the top dumb unrealistic cutscenes by Kitamura that gone too much into anime and matrix direction, and the new soundtrack (which i totally forgot about but someone above reminded me about that), some also dont like new voice over and few minor changes in scripts, but i personally think they was improved and you can call it a patch to original story and voice over. But from gameplay standpoint its absolutely better than original PS1 version because it takes tons of quality of life improvements and features from MGS2, as it basically was MGS1 rebuilt in MGS2 engine and its assets.

Actually if Konami would not be lazy, they can fix Twin Snakes after so many years!

How? They can fix it by rebuilding animations and camera angles for cutscenes based animations and camera from original, and remove all of these over the top action sequences and goofy absurd and stupid moments (like snake jumping over rockets, jumping over metal gear, jumping over flying rock that was launched by Grey Fox, like hand of Ocelot not having blood fontain imediately. like all these stupid slow mos every second, and bullet time effects from Matrix, and also dumb "funny" moments like soldier getting in fire and then got punched in a face by snake - this crap needs to be cut and grounded to more realistic level), and add this as toggle option that will switch between Twin Snakes or close to original new reworked cutscenes.

Also they can fix soundtrack by adding original MGS1 tracks as option, and also by re-writing or remastering MGS1 ost with higher qulaity but by keeping its tone and atmosphere and all the cues (kicks, drums, 80th synth leads, vocal chorus etc) and providing 3 soundtrack options to toggle between.

Few things in gameplay could be tweaked - like make bullet impact on snake more punishing, like in MGS1 when he was falling to the ground.

This is especially critical in Vulcan raven boss fight to make him more dangerous and to avoid abuse of exploit where you can can be shoot directly and keep shooting him.

Sniper wolf boss fight need a fix - while mechanics allow to snipe by standing, some smart scripting should make Wolf to got into sneaking imediatelly and shoot back Snake in a head, to force players sneak too. Also Sniper wolf just running like idiot and getting shot easily can be fixed by actually forcing her to sneak all the time for high distances and only use running if distance to closes cover is very short, like 5 meters or less. Couple of tricks like side rolling animations in sneaking position can be added to Sniper Wolf too, to make this boss fight challenging.

Another thing that is really needed to improve this fight - increas amount of snow and fog and make it less transpare to make distance position of sniper wolf barely visible.

Occelot fight can be improved by making him running a little fast like in original, and to make him retreat to new cover if he was just shot by standing behind current cover, this will break abuse of 1st person shooting and will force you run more after him.

Tranquilizer problem is also easy to fix - cutscene part during liquid talk which shows Snake using lethal weapons insted of tranq - should be removed or should be adaptive based on what you used most - lethal or non lethal weapons or at least should show death of bosses instead of regular soldiers who snake may not kill at all.

Boss fights show force to use lethal weapons instead of tranqs, by reducing damage of tranquilizer to almost zero and by making it very uneffective against bosses, so anyone who will try to use tranq will give up and use more deadly weapons. As for mini boss fights like bunch of soldier, while tranq should affect soldiers as in usual encounters, its slow reloading time and immobility during shooting should also force players to prefer more lethal weapons.

With fixes like that Twin Snakes can be turned into ultimate classic version of MGS 1 that deserves to be remastered. And doing such remaster is much cheaper and easier than remaking whole game... and ill actually by both this remaster and remake if they do, because i really want to keep old version, and while Twin Snake is actually a remake this remake was done during MGS2-3 era and feels consisten with them, so if i have classic MGS 2 and 3, even despite remakes are in development, i wish to have MGS Twin snakes "Fixed edition" as remaster of existent game with rebuilt cutscenes, soundtrack and few tweaks to boss fights and gameplay for better balance and consistency and sense of realism.

Go ask Nintendo. They co-developed it through Silicon Knights, they probably have a say in the matter.

Nintendo did not develop it, they only published it! Developer was Silicon Knights. Source code and game is property of Konami even if Silicon Knights developed it for Nintendo platform. So Konami can do whatever they want with source code and port it on any platform.

There are few nintendo related posters in Otakon room that may be problem with copyright, but its easy to solve by replacing these textures with ones from PS1 version but upscalled or redrawn.

Also if there are other terms of agreement between Konami and Nintendo they can always make a new deal, and most likely old agreement is already expired and Konami free to do anything they want with Twin Snakes.

It'd be nice to see it in another volume, but it's probably a copyright bomb waiting to go off.

Nintendo still likely bankrolled it, why else would it have only been released on Gamecube and have Nintendo references stuffed into it? Nintendo very likely partially holds the rights and it can't be released elsewhere without their approval.

MGS4 leaked and it's likely that the disc change dialog will be scrubbed since Sony also did the same thing Nintendo did with Twin Snakes.

So far, the Vol 2 leaks are MGS4, MGS5, MGSPO, MGSPW and MGRR. Twin Snakes is the only major entry not in there.

Mem card dialog isn't going to show up during gameplay anyway. It's just a matter of Konami being willing to pay Nintendo for the right to use Nintendo consoles and characters in one room and since Konami are apparently paying good money for all the licensed stuff in MGS4, Twin Snakes is possible.

I think it's because of all the Nintendo references in the game and the codec dialogs where you have to press a certain button (Gamecub Controller). Its not worth it to change all of that I guess. idk

It depends on if Konami want to pay Nintendo

This can be fixed smart way. Layout of most buttons match Xbox by name, but order is different. Simple cut and paste of button names in dialogues can fix it. Also modern Ai tech allows to learn any voice and imitate it, so you can easily replace any word in original dialog by ai generated word or phrase and it will sound like original, and you can replace exact buttons names like that with more universal button names like "press action button" instead "press x button". With little more effort you can make several variations of same dialogue with buttons correspondin generic dinput, xinput, steam input, Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo buttons and switch them dynamically based on what controller currently used.

They are doing more than one collection.
Nintendo partially owns the rights, maybe on switch.

If they decide to make it so Vol 2 has Twin Snakes as a Switch bonus, I'm actually all for it.

Based on what's leaked, it's Portable Ops, Guns of the Patriots, Peace Walker, Rising, Ground Zeroes and Phantom Pain. Twin Snakes is literally ALL that's missing there. (And I guess Ghost Babel and the Acid games but let's assume that Ghost Babel is a bonus for buying the whole collection and the Acid games come in their own collection.)

But I did hear that Twin Snakes was considered for MGS HD Collection so it's likely that Konami can just pay Nintendo what they want since that's what stopped Kojima himself from remastering it in the first place.

Hmm, interesting. The game gets a lot of crap, and in some respects rightfully so. It is still a great game though.
