You are likely intending to use the word "shoot" in your descriptions, not the word "shot". If you are going to fire your gun you are going to "shoot" your gun. (My ship is going to shoot at your ship) If you had fired your gun already, in the past basically, and are trying to describe what you did with the gun you would say I "shot" the gun. (My ship shot at your ship already) I hope that helps if that is indeed what you intended....
