Buuuuut, i think you need to dowload the singleplayer too, otherwise it won't start. (if i remember correctly)

It will without single player. Or atleast did for me. With all the zombie DLC too.

Sometimes Zombies will run into issues if SP and MP aren't installed. If you have issues or get errors then you likely will need to in stall one of them or both SP and MP. The issue doesn't happen to all and is random. I believe Treyarch has said in the past it is best to install the whole game and not parts of it.

I was reinstalling the game from DVDs and I installed MP and Zombies only. However yea, it did not start and additing SP did not help so I needed to install it all at once. This is not the case when I downloaded it from Steam servers.

The disc is meant for the whole game not downloading part of it. Steam is different because you can choose what you want installed.

Still the game wasn't meant to be downloaded in parts, all 3 were meant to be installed. If zombies was meant to be installed on it's own, they would have made a standalone version. SP, MP and Zombies all share files, if you come across something that is missing that the game needs, you will get an error. That means you'll need to install either SP or MP, probably both as you wont know what file is needed or from where.
Missing files coud cause crashes and other problems.
