Unable to play co-op
I've seen other posts about this so I'll add my own input and ask for feedback, please.

A friend and I researched co-op PC games specifically so we could play together and came upon Ghost Recon Future Soldier as a game to try. We each forked out £15 for the deluxe edition.

Neither of us can get it to work for either Guerilla or Co-Op Campaign, as we get the message about failing to connect to the host. We can both play Multiplayer just fine. I should say right off the bat that we are not on a LAN but both on broadband and in the UK.

Things we have tried:

1 - Portforwarding all the ports listed at every location we can find, for both the game and for uplay.

2 - Opening up our Firewall to allow both the game and uplay to go through, both public and private.

3 - Setting our firewall incoming rules to "Allow Edge Traversal" (as recommended in a couple of forum posts where others are having the same problem).

4 - Removing each other from Friends in both the game and uplay, then adding each other just in the game.

5 - As above but just adding each other in uplay.

6 - Removing uplay, telling Steam to check file integrity and allowing uplay to be redownloaded and updated.

7 - Checked we both have the same version numbers for the game and uplay.

8 - Turning our Firewall's off completely

9 - Disabling anti-virus software (McAfee on one and Avast on the other).

I'm now out of ideas and also at the end of the line. If we can't get the game to run, I'm going to email Ubisoft and ask for a couple of refunds, which would be a shame. But I really would like to get it to work, if anyone has other ideas please?

Thanks,

H

Let me revive this topic with solution that worked for me. Everything else you did to make it work was probably random, because in fact ability to invite friend to co-op is currently random.

After quite a lot of hours wasted looking for some solution or at least understand the problem I think I got it. As I bought Future Soldier sorely for co-op with my friend and it worked almost right away, when we could not connect again the next day I wanted to solve it. After many trials we were able to isolate issue to problems with certain servers.
Server that works: 185.38.21.82 ( Ubisoft International SAS )
Servers that were never able to connect GRFS coop game: 185.38.21.83 185.38.21.84 185.38.21.85
Solution:
1. Make sure you have only one network adapter running (any VPN, hamachi and others are causing "failed to connect to host" problem)
2. Go to your firewall (either Windows Firewall or other you are using instead) and block IPs 185.38.21.83-85
3. Start Uplay and the game. If you want to verify that it worked correctly, you can verify that the game is connected to 185.38.21.82 using network traffic monitor like:
https://www.nirsoft.net/utils/live_tcp_udp_watch.html
4. Now invitations and everything should work. It's slow, takes sometimes around 10-15 seconds to receive invitation but then it works.
It seems like other Ubisoft servers are not handling connections properly, only when both players are connected to proper server it starts to work. It also seems that either Uplay or the game itself is checking server response so blocking other IPs causes game to load the only one we left not blocked. This way both players can safely connect to the same server which handles co-op properly. Don't ask me how we found this solution.
Some facts:
1. Removing friends from Uplay does not matter.
2. Uplay has to be running to see friend status properly in game.
3. Fetching list of users takes some time. Just type your friend name in search box and wait around half a minute, it will show up always. Invitations also take around half a minute.
4. Restarting Uplay, game, computer etc does not change anything besides possibility that this time you may connect to proper server. That's why in our case game was connecting sometimes a few times in a row (working server has less latency) and sometimes no matter how much we try it was not connecting (other servers had better latency and those did not handle the game).
I wanted to play Ghost Recon many years ago but somehow I could not get it when first ones were out. Recently I wanted to play GRAW and GRAW2 but those don't work anymore, you can't even buy them on Ubisoft store. Future Soldier was oldest one I picked and gameplay is... ok. Only responsiveness and controls aged a bit but the game looks quite amazing.
I'm going to post this solution also in different high results from google so others can finally enjoy this game with their friends. I'm sure many of you resigned from co-op experience just because of server errors. It's not guaranteed that it will work forever, IPs may change, server configurations may change. Anyways, it was quite stable recently, I'll maybe update this topic when we test it a bit more. Most important is that we were able to rule out different scenarios that did not matter.
One more thing to check again would be trying out running it with different server but also blocking other ones to make sure you only have connection to one of them. I've seen that game is actually connecting to two different Ubisoft servers but in cases when we connected to the same 83-85 servers, it did not work as well. It only worked with connection through 82.

Thank you! Saved my coop campaign.

blahblahblah i have a brain lmao <3
Evidently not.

In all seriousness though; this isn't the thread for your complaining and if you don't like it stop hanging around on its forums. I'm not saying the game's perfect because it isn't but things aren't to everyone's tastes either and you just have to accept that you won't like everything.
Besides, by your own admission you got the game for free so any complaint you have (outside of objective criticism e.g. "the sprint controls occasionally suck you into the wrong cover") is invalid. Just be grateful you got a gift from someone.

i wish i could ask for a refund for this game but i got it as a free gift but one of the worst GR games i have ever experienced. so glad i didn't pay a penny for this garbage. now reading more into the game it has so much technical probs now to like co--op issues etc this game is just straight joke to the horrible AI,the failed cinematic aspect taking over GR, to the failed co-op issues etc like man this game is just a joke and ubi actually suckered people into buying this lmao F U UBI ^_^ didn't get me and never will. i don't buy trash games lol i'll get them as free gifts maybe but i have a brain lmao <3

well thanks for sharing your useless opinion.
1. The game isnt bad, awesome graphics, great gameplay and there is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ coop-campagne/guerilla mode oh and a multiplayer.
2 Yes, there are bugs but they are all solvable... the bugs are just bugs because ubi want them to be there, they had many bugs they solved many but not enough and now they given up, start an new game and try to ignore FS.
3. You cannot compare FS with older ghost recons, FS isnt that much about stealth and simulation... but much more than any BF or COD.
4. Intressting that someone sent you a gift, i think its a kind of compassion gift, the money should be used for a new brain, 14,99€ would be enough for a better one than your actually.

I can confirm that me and my friend managed to play co-op campaing by disabling all network adapters that weren't in use and also opening at least the port 80 UDP/TCP

SOLUTION:

My friends and i spent 2 days troubleshooting this issue. 3 people had no problems. only my computer did. In the end the solution was disabling all other network adapters. Unfortunatly i still had all the ports forwarded too so i don't know if it's a combination of disabling adapters and ports or just disabling adapters. i'll try that and reply again later.

NOTE: MAKE SURE THEY STAY DISABLED!!! This was the most important thing.

One of the first things we did was find this exact thread and tried everything. port forwarding. disabling adapters. reinstalling uplay. file integrity check. At that time i didn't notice that one of my network adapters immediately re-enabled it self after i disabled it. I didn't even think to check that. It happened to be some Blackberry virtual network driver. After i discovered that it kept re-enabling i just looked for any blackberry windows services and completely stopped them. This let me go back and disable the network adapter.

Hope this helps someone else.

Everything didn't work until both me and my friend disabled any other network adapters (including 3rd party ones ie hamachi, tunngle etc), only the adapter you are actively using enabled (LAN or Wifi depending if you are connected to cable or wireless). After doing that, we were able to get into multiplayer matches, as well as start Story and Guerilla mode. Besides that, i have ports forwarded and firewall deactivated. Hope this helps someone. All the best. :reusapple:

This worked for my friend and I. I couldn't join any multiplayer matches, and we couldn't play co-op, even with all the ports forwarded. As soon as I disabled all other adapters (I had hamachi, evolve, ethernet and bluetooth), I could immediately join multiplayer matches and my friend and I could play co-op.

On my config, I just went to control panel, network and sharing center, adapter settings and clicked on each adapter (except wi-fi) and clicked on the button above that says "Disable this network device." Good luck!

Fantastic, I'm planning to pickup this game and a few others from Humblebundle only for Co-op aspect! The single network adaptor solution seems to work.

Coop is not working, after the first chekpoint all your friends got dissconnected
Heron 2015 年 9 月 6 日 上午 4:33
Yeah and sadly I don't have any other adapters listed so I can't try that.
Tenon 2015 年 9 月 6 日 上午 8:40
i really dont get it some people have problems and some dont have any problems, we have to find out the problem and stop starting to find a solution for a unknown problem...

we dont need them for help
Crazy Clipper 2015 年 9 月 10 日 上午 9:16
Actually , all problems will be solved if they added a dedicated co op server to this game . but its ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ . so they put this game in the uplay shared server / ♥♥♥♥ them

SOLUTION:

In the end the solution was disabling all other network adapters.

what does this mean? How do you have multiple network adapters? I just have the one listed that runs my ethernet...
