Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Future Soldier

Same network, me and my friend cant play coop with each other
  • Both of us got windows 10 check
  • Ubisoft connect is running as administrator check
  • FutureSolider.exe, FutureSoliderDX9.exe, FutureSoliderDX11.exe running in WIndows 7 compatibility mode and as adminstrator check
  • No VPNs installed on both of our machines check
  • My friend literally brought his gaming laptop to my house and both of us are connected on the same Wifi Network (mine)
  • Firewall completely disabled check
  • Port forwarding on my router check
  • I start campaign, even added the guy from within the game, accepted it on his machine and then send a coop campaign invite and "the invite is not received"
  • I really dont think you can do anything more than this. I cannot play coop with the guy even after all these steps. Both of us brought the game on steam
  • Please tell me someone is working to fix this issue, the game is "UNCOOPABLE"

Thanks for getting in contact and providing this information, we are aware that some players are experiencing issues while connecting to one another but at this time I would not be able to provide any additional information. Please keep an eye out for any official information as soon as this is made available. Apologies for any confusion or inconvenience this may have caused.

^ So basically wait for an update on an outdated game like that will ever happen and "apologies for the inconvenience" won't help you at all.

I had a lot of trouble playing this with my friend as well, although in our case we wouldn't receive eachother's invites.
I found some topic that basically suggested to block Ip's 185.38.21.83, 185.38.21.84 and 185.38.21.85 on your firewall, forcing the game to launch and connect to ip 185.38.21.82, because the other 3 are broken or something.

After that we had a problem where we got some failure to connect error or something, so we had to disable all network routers apart from the one we're using to receive internet (hamachi, tunngle, anything you can think of).

Here's the topic, ubisoft support won't help you with this because they're certainly not going to update this game anymore.

All this being said it only works sometimes for some reason.
We just tried for half an hour to set up a session and it wouldn't receive the invite anymore after multiple times of restarting uplay + the game.
2 days ago we did the same and it did work after restarting, so it's hit or miss and it's random asf.

(Also worth noting you might want to tab out and force close uPlay when you finally get matched up; the game tends to crash when someone on your uplay friends list logs on while you're ingame because for some reason the uplay and GRFS friends list get desynced, the game sharts itself and crashes to desktop).

@Roy thank you for the reply. block the IP using hosts file or firewall or both? also what if your firewall is completely disabled

I think we did it through firewall, could just try both for good measure if you know how though.
Sadly i know ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about networking stuff so i just followed the steps as well as i could, i don't really understand why it worked or how.

That being said me and my mate played about 2 of 1 hour long sessions, but our last 3-4 attempts we were back to not seeing eachother's invites so i really can't tell what does the trick.

But yeah to awnser your question my dumb brain would just go block both of them.

Thank you for sharing your experience and what worked for you Roy.

This is very likely to help others, we continue to investigate this from our side also.

Many thanks once again

You're welcome and i'm sorry for being harsh on you guys.
I know it's a dated game and you try the best you can to help us with the tools you've got.
I was a bit cranky from trying to get the co-op working and failing multiple times.
Thank you too.
I wonder how it'll work for people who aren't on the same network, 3 of us bought it and it seemed to hate us for trying to connect to each other and it was only 2 of us trying.

@Psyschedelic my dreams of plaything this game have crashed but not as bad as the game crashing everytime you try running it, if there is something I havent tried yet then it is the suggestion by @Roy about blocking those IPs, have you tried those?
Not been able to get it to work. Invites not showing and rather a lot of CTD's. ( I haven't tried closing uPlay as suggested earlier int his post as we didn't even get past the invites not working. )

It's for reasons such as this that ALL games should have built in LAN play so we can just use a VPN to get around broken ass online matchmaking systems in old games.

Sadly i havent been able to get invites showing anymore recently but the "fix" i mentioned did work for us at some point for a short while.

I agree i wish more games would have LAN compatibility but sadly i think they avoid it since it also makes pirating easier or smth.

Yeah but it does suck for us with the legitimate games when the pirated ones are probably easier to get working. I'm saying probably because I haven't tried, I would rather get my game working. XD

Wait that might not be such a bad idea actually..
Maybe a cracked version ignores all this uplay BS, i might try that because i want to finish this.
VivzDanger Mar 17, 2021 @ 8:38pm
@Roy but a cracked version is not gonna connect to their online servers

My friend and I had a really fun time playing this game together. We had a good 4 hours of play time before we decided it wasn't for us. The progression was pretty difficult and we had little feedback if what we where doing was correct

We played the game for an hour and then there was this completely different mini-game with guns and explosions. So we did that for an hour and called it a night, confident in our abilities. Then the next few session really ramped up the difficulty. Ultimately we determined that Ghost Recon: Future Soldier had way too much NSA hacker game play and not enough guns and explosions game play. However, I will say that the head-to-desk and frustration feelings we experienced really made us feel like cyber-operatives. 5 stars.

Purchasing Ubisoft games for the co-op features is pretty much a no-go now.

(unhelpful note: I feel connecting with another is just about a fluke at this point. It happens randomly and rarely. Best to spend your time doing something else.)
VivzDanger Mar 20, 2021 @ 8:52pm
@Sleepy_walker mini game? what mini game? dude there is no mini game in future soldier, you sure you are playing the right one?
