I had a lot of trouble playing this with my friend as well, although in our case we wouldn't receive eachother's invites.
I found some topic that basically suggested to block Ip's 185.38.21.83, 185.38.21.84 and 185.38.21.85 on your firewall, forcing the game to launch and connect to ip 185.38.21.82, because the other 3 are broken or something.
After that we had a problem where we got some failure to connect error or something, so we had to disable all network routers apart from the one we're using to receive internet (hamachi, tunngle, anything you can think of).
Here's the topic, ubisoft support won't help you with this because they're certainly not going to update this game anymore.

All this being said it only works sometimes for some reason.
We just tried for half an hour to set up a session and it wouldn't receive the invite anymore after multiple times of restarting uplay + the game.
2 days ago we did the same and it did work after restarting, so it's hit or miss and it's random asf.
(Also worth noting you might want to tab out and force close uPlay when you finally get matched up; the game tends to crash when someone on your uplay friends list logs on while you're ingame because for some reason the uplay and GRFS friends list get desynced, the game sharts itself and crashes to desktop).
Sadly i know ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about networking stuff so i just followed the steps as well as i could, i don't really understand why it worked or how.
That being said me and my mate played about 2 of 1 hour long sessions, but our last 3-4 attempts we were back to not seeing eachother's invites so i really can't tell what does the trick.
But yeah to awnser your question my dumb brain would just go block both of them.
This is very likely to help others, we continue to investigate this from our side also.
Many thanks once again

I know it's a dated game and you try the best you can to help us with the tools you've got.
I was a bit cranky from trying to get the co-op working and failing multiple times.
Thank you too.
It's for reasons such as this that ALL games should have built in LAN play so we can just use a VPN to get around broken ass online matchmaking systems in old games.
I agree i wish more games would have LAN compatibility but sadly i think they avoid it since it also makes pirating easier or smth.
Yeah but it does suck for us with the legitimate games when the pirated ones are probably easier to get working. I'm saying probably because I haven't tried, I would rather get my game working. XD
Maybe a cracked version ignores all this uplay BS, i might try that because i want to finish this.
We played the game for an hour and then there was this completely different mini-game with guns and explosions. So we did that for an hour and called it a night, confident in our abilities. Then the next few session really ramped up the difficulty. Ultimately we determined that Ghost Recon: Future Soldier had way too much NSA hacker game play and not enough guns and explosions game play. However, I will say that the head-to-desk and frustration feelings we experienced really made us feel like cyber-operatives. 5 stars.
Purchasing Ubisoft games for the co-op features is pretty much a no-go now.
(unhelpful note: I feel connecting with another is just about a fluke at this point. It happens randomly and rarely. Best to spend your time doing something else.)
