I'm really enjoying the game. I'm surprised it took me this long to actually try it.

What do I like about the game? I'm not actually sure. When I logged in for the first time and started messing around I was about to quit in the first 30mins. Combat felt wierd, UI and graphics are dated, inventory is a pain, etc.

I've spent sometime thinking about this, while playing, because I can't quite put my finger on what I like about the game. The best way I can describe this game for me is that it is endearing. I find myself enjoying the world as a whole even though there are aspects I don't like. I find myself excited to see the next quest area because I'm actually enjoying the world and its ambiance. I went to BilBo and Frodo's house as I was passing through the Shire because I wanted to actually see if it was there and it is.

Bottom line, I will whole heartedly recommend this game with the caveat that you have to give it at least 2-3 hours to read the quests and explore the world a bit before making a judgement on whether you like it or not.

The game might be a bit old, but is really comfy and warm
New friendly with a decent pace
Rather constant updates (especially the one with which you can choose your difficulty level) keep the game fresh despite its years
Good crafting systems, decent old style combat, good story (it's LOTR after all)

Pior MMO que ja joguei graficos, movimentação, quest e combate são intraguavies pra padrões modernos. Se vc é MUITO fã de LOTR, talvez vale a pena. Caso contrario, pula fora.

Don't bother installing, it doesn't work. It just keeps showing the same error message: PatchClientDLL::CheckDatFiles Failed. [Unable to decrypt and deserialize the data downloaded from the server.]

The game may be fun playing but it's lost its atmospheric quality. A significant portion of the game changes it structure over the years.

Extremely immersive and cozy to play casually.

Lotro is a great game with stunning Tolkien-inspired landscapes and zones. However, its monetization is a downside; even with a subscription, you have to buy extra inventory space and other essentials from the store since they can't be crafted in-game.
