best race for minstrel?

Well Race isnt really that important, since late game those 20 fate or so dont really add a lot if you have over 3k. But id agree that human is the "best" race for Minstrel, because of the +20 fate and the +20 will fate after killing 50 wargs. But humans also have -8, so it might be a BIT harder before you get the +20 trait.

I'm fond of Hobbit for minstrel, for the racial stealth and play dead traits... Having a full aggro dump like that on a healer can make the difference between in a possible instance wipe.

Yes, 2 play deads are dead useful :-)
But Dwarves are the coolest minstrels of course!

it depends what kind of ministrel you want to be, like others said, the race is not that important, but i would advice Dwarf or Hobbits
Dwarfs have a Racial Skill that improve your resistance and Defence
Hobbits have the "Play Dead" skill that will save you most of times because with that, no Enemy will/can attack you

Elves have another perk: They get a racial port to Rivendell. Believe me, that's something you wish you had when playing another race!
