old problem... searching for logon server

It seems to be a well known problem even I don't know why this game got this issue when dozend other games just work fine...

Nevertheless I have waited for hours to download the dat files just because I changed the language... did you guys realy hardcode everything?!
After hours of downloading I only get the 'searching for logon server' issue. I have removed and added the executable in my firewall and now I have disabled the whole firewall but without success.

My last hope is to change back the language to the one suggested and downloaded by Steam.
I will give an update on this issue... after hours of downloading...

Didn't take that long to change language but didn't help with the logon problem. Firewall is still disabled for incoming and outgoing traffic ...

Ok, here we go. Even the Windows internal firewall was disabled and the executable was added to the allow list it didn't work. I had to add/change the firewall rule for lotrclient.exe manually to enable and allow all protocols.

Thanks for the reply. I also thought the servers might be down but would expect that something is indicating the server status but could not find anything in the news and the server status was shown as UP.

And then you'll get the Helm's Deep update before you can play. (which has been delayed due to the power outage from last night).

It's worth it in the end though!

The Turbine datacenter got hit with a massive blackout-- both primary and backup power sources were taken out around midnight.

Sometime around 3am, apparently, they began to bring servers back on line.

As of 10am they were still experiencing problems.

Only problem is that everyone is flooding Evernight, and that's where I want to open up my gold Hobbit gift. Grrrrrr.....
