Generally speaking nothing. It depends upon the level of the player, their willingness to spend gold vs TP (they can be bought in the store), the level of the chest to be opened and, most importantly, the gulibility of the player buying the key.

The rewards in the chests are rare at best. Ususally, they are pretty mundane and not at all worth the cost of a key in gold or TP.

Even though Valamar is right about the rewards, there are still people who'll buy the keys for a lot of gold. This depends on the server of course, but on Crickhollow you can fetch 10-15 gold for a key.

There are lists of the possible contents of the different levels of chests. check the Lotro wiki site, and decide if you want to try your luck, or sell the key to someone else.

Got two sturdy keys and lvl 60 lootboxes yesterday. First lootbox gave me Tome of Fate VI - price in AH 130-150g and 5x Tome of Defence - I can sell one for 10g or maybe more. Second lootbox had Red Painted Skeleton horse which is very very rare drop worth around 1300 TP in Lotro store, so it's really depend on your luck :) Of course sometime i got only food like dale men's cream or some cosmetic item. I never sell these keys because I like to try my luck.

Ohhh... I'd like that horse.
I got a universal toolkit once when my char was around L20. Better than the cosmetics I got from others.
