It wants to check the files... I'm stuck at the 'Checking DAT files' part. It hangs on 77%.
Thanks for your message :)
It will check each file again, but realize it has updated them then pick-up where it left off.
Whatever you do DO NOT VERIFY the game!
It is a Valve/Steam thing that DOES NOT WORK for LOTRO. All it does is re-download the entire game and forces you to begin patching all over again.
(It can never work, because the copy of the game which Steam downloads is 18+ months out of date!!!)
I've not tried to verify the files again after I reinstalled the game yet.
I'm not gonna do that since I know that now :)
If i restart the launcher, the progressbar goes so fast and appears done at the right of it.
After 3 seconds a new progressbar apppears with 'Checking DAT files'. This progressbar fills up to 77% and not further!
So after 20 attemts to restart the launcher I gave up xD
Any more suggestions?
Pulling a thread back from the dead after almost 3.5 years is not going to help anyone.
If you have a problem, you're better off starting a new thread describing your issues.
I don't think you're suffering from the issue the OP had, as that was an issue with the game as it was 3.5 years ago.
Actually, the problem still presists

check antivirus and firewall logs. might be blocking things.
check the logs in folder
c:\users\yourWIndowsLogin\appdata\local\the lord of the rings online
might tell you exactly what the isssue is
1 Navigate to your Lord of the Rings Online installation folder (typically C:\Program Files (x86)\StandingStoneGames\The Lord of the Rings Online).
2 Delete all files in this folder with a dat or datx file type. They will all end in .dat or .datx
3 Restart the LOTRO launcher and the application should repair itself."
