- If your LOTRO client is stuck while patching on a .dat or .datx =
1 Navigate to your Lord of the Rings Online installation folder (typically C:\Program Files (x86)\StandingStoneGames\The Lord of the Rings Online).
2 Delete all files in this folder with a dat or datx file type. They will all end in .dat or .datx
3 Restart the LOTRO launcher and the application should repair itself."

Mine has installed in
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Lord of the Rings Online

Your Anti-Virus App may be blocking the full download. Try Disabling it for 5 to 10 minutes as you Download. It will restart itself after the disable time is over. (Worked for me)

Use launcher "Repair" function (The little upside down arrow top-right > Repair tab > Repair)
It may download a lot of gamefiles again, but it kills Steam-installation related problems.

Thank you , not only did this work. But my smooth brain put 2 and 2 together and used the delete key for once in my life

That worked for me. Took a second to find it as I have it installed on a different storage but once I found it ( was actually under lotro online for me not standingstone games) it worked and had no issues after I deleted all .dat and .datx files

I deleted all datx files, downloaded 14 GB of them again, and the error appears again.

This worked first try, easy and effective.

TY!
I had the same issue. You can repair the files from the launcher using the repair facility. It will download everything again while repairing. This fixed the problem for me.
