The Lord of the Rings Online™

Is it worth moving servers now as a new player ? ( mods please remove this post)
I started on gladden not happy with my experience thus far. Is it worth changing servers to see if I can find something more active and find a new kinship friends or just wait for the free 64 bit server and stay on gladden for now ?

edit; since people are incapable of being nice i ask the mods to please remove this post i also received my answer from the one kind person in this thread and its no longer needed it just detailed into a hate train of homophobia and bigotry

Join a Solo-Friendly Kinship: Some kinships (guilds) are designed for solo players who prefer minimal interaction. Finding one of these can provide support without the pressure of group activities.

While it’s unfortunate that your experience has been marred by toxicity, LOTRO still offers a rich solo experience that lets you immerse yourself in Tolkien’s world. Enjoy your adventures in Middle-earth!

If you need any tips or have questions about specific quests, feel free to ask.

It's understandable that you're looking for a more relaxed environment. The Peregrin server is designated as a Roleplay (RP) server, which means roleplaying is encouraged but not mandatory. This can create a different atmosphere compared to Glamdring, which is a more general-purpose server1.

Many players find RP servers to be more immersive and community-oriented, as they attract players who are interested in roleplaying and creating a rich, story-driven experience. However, the level of strictness and enforcement of roleplaying can vary from server to server and even from kinship to kinship.

If you're hoping for a less harsh environment, Peregrin might be a good choice, especially if you find a kinship that aligns with your preferences. It's always a good idea to check out the server's community and see if it matches what you're looking for.

Have you considered reaching out to any kinships on Peregrin to get a feel for their community before making the switch?

Once the new 64-bit servers are open and you can transfer there, there will be more trolls but there will also be new kinships forming and hopefully you can find an actually decent group of people to hang out with/play with.

I asked if any guilds were hiring (I come from elder scrolls online where it’s called guilds ) and I got lambasted in the chat for not saying kinship. I tried. A few kinships I ask for help they just say “go Google it “ or simply don’t respond. I never had this problem in eso people actually help. I run my own guild in eso to help new players. But from my experience at least on gladden the community has been flat out toxic. I now am a full time solo player chat off I’m over it.

Prob gonna go over to the Peregrin rp server when it’s ready and see if I can find a relaxed social guild who just want to answer questions and maybe team up from time to time without the elitism.

So until the sever can tranfer to 64 im just gonna play on my own without kinship

Some people do make "insulting/wise-butt comments" about almost everything. Such as some just "correct" that it's called "Kinships" in LOTRO for a guild. While others can be insulting.

That said the OP & their comments sound far more like a few comments have led to "everyone being considered a troll". As while troll-ish comments do happen it's not like it's "all the time".

Their overall first attempts at discussion involved encounter trolls, inactive kins, etc. and now they have a view that "this is what all of LOTRO is". Which it isn't.

Ummm I am the op why are you talking to me as if I didn’t post this. You are already proving my experience more by being weird and detached like the people I’ve encountered.

I’ve tried every day to engage with the kinship chats / world chats etc etc nothing but toxic sewage coming from people in this game.

I’ve been playing eso for almost a decade and I run a large guild I don’t have any of these issues there… 🤷🏻‍♂️

Well Alex you are wrong. 100 % happened to me in the gladden world chat. Once again you are not proving the case very well.

Why would I make something up so specific just to ask a question ?

I simply asked if the guilds were recruiting and I got back nothing but snark, to the point where 2 nice people iMed me in private because they felt bad. I can give you their in game names if you want to ask them you self if it happened. I’m not liar and I certainly don’t need to lie or make this up to ask this question I could
Have asked it without even mentioning that.

true. this is just common mmo attitude though. save your money, stay on gladden, transfers to 64 bit servers are going to be free and they're almost here. however

are you going to have the stomach for continued treatment in similar fashion. if you spend your money and server hop and it happens again just because you're vibing in world chat. you see where i'm going. and the effect will be compounded a lot on the 64's. all the servers merging. more dudes. less servers. more mouth running

is it possible to just turn off all the chats and just do the main epic quests/ side quests and solo skirmishes and just play this as if its a single player game? Im not sure why this game is so toxic. Ive been with eso (and even run my own guild) and while there are some crappy people ive experienced much more and worse treatment in lotro in a month than almost a decade in eso. It makes me sad because im a massive tolkien fan. But if i can play this totally solo than i may just do that.

do you think the rp server will be more relaxed than glamdring? im thinking on taking a shot with the peregrin server hoping it will be a little less harsh.

Yes, you can play "The Lord of the Rings Online" (LOTRO) in a way that minimizes interaction with other players and focuses on solo content. Here's how you can do it:

Turn Off Chat: You can disable or hide the chat windows. To do this, right-click on the chat tab and uncheck the channels you don't want to see. You can also create a new tab and only enable the chats you want to follow.

Solo Epic Quests: The main storyline (Epic Quests) can be completed solo. Some instances within the Epic Quests may require a group, but they often have solo options or can be done with the help of in-game boosts.

Solo Skirmishes: Skirmishes are designed to be scalable, meaning you can do them solo. These instances scale with your level and can be a great way to progress alone.

Side Quests: Most side quests in the game can be completed solo, allowing you to explore Middle-earth at your own pace.

Ignore Players: If you encounter toxic players, you can use the "Ignore" feature to block them. This can help reduce negative interactions.

Thank you for the info.
Yes a solo guild would be nice I tried looking on gladden on the discord and it’s really only 3 kinships recruiting and I’m not a fan of them.

I spoke to one person who may have a solo guild but I’m yet to he added too it. Will see what happens I’ll check the Peregrin discord and see if they are creating new kinships
To join in advance. Thanks for the info

what is projecting for attention
Projecting for attention refers to the behavior where an individual attributes their own desire for attention to others, often without realizing it. This can manifest in various ways, such as accusing others of being attention-seeking when, in reality, the person making the accusation is the one who craves attention.

For example, someone might frequently point out how others are always seeking validation or spotlight, while they might be doing the same unconsciously. This behavior serves as a defense mechanism to deflect their own feelings and avoid acknowledging their own needs or insecurities.

is britney spears an example of attention seeking
Britney Spears has often been in the spotlight, and her behavior has sometimes been interpreted as attention-seeking. For instance, her recent social media posts, which include bizarre and cryptic content, have led to speculation about her mental health and whether she is seeking attention2.

However, it's important to consider the context of her life, including her long battle with a conservatorship and her struggles with mental health. Some people believe her posts are a cry for help or a way to express her frustrations, rather than simply seeking attention2.

It's a complex situation, and it's crucial to approach it with empathy and understanding. What are your thoughts on this?

even the ai says you're attention seeking and having a struggle with mental health. get help
