Steam account connecting to LOTRO

hello i used to play LOTRO on steam i have over 250hrs of gameplay but when i tried to log in its not finding my account. i followed the instructions given which was create a new account under the same username. but that also did not work. i have waay to much progress and money into my account to just abandon it. please help

Where did you see those instructions?
It doesn't matter whether you played it on steam or no, there's no real connection between the two.
Hnave you tried recovering the password?

Recovering PASSWORD should work, getting your account back. But do it not on STEAM. Go directly to the LOTRO SUPPORT site instead, and it works 99% of the time. 👍👍 1k✨🤴

If you haven't played in over 2years, SSG has zero'd out your password. They started that quite a ways back as an anti-hijack measure for unactive accounts.

You'll need to go to lotro.com the help/faq section for 'recover old account' or something like that and it'll give you an email form to fill out so they know it's your account; account name, email when last played, a character from it, server and optional the credit card/payment method used.

Just a question you say "when i tried to log in", you're not trying to log in with your steam username/password are you? Because LotRO has it's own username/password.

I just went thru the process recently. I had been away from the game for 2 years. The account people asked me some questions. I answered, then I received a password change notice. All went smoothly
