Updating the graphics via steam?
Is there a way to download the updated graphics via steam or without redownloading everything? I'd like to keep my current client.

Assuming you are talking about LOTRO -- there are no "updated graphics."

You never have to "redownload" the LOTRO client. -- NEVER Verify your LOTRO Client via Steam! It will always fail and force a complete download because the Steam download is now over 2 years out of date. There have been two major expansions (Riders of Rohan and Helm's Deep) as well as numerous other updates and fixes since then.

The LOTRO Client always contains the full and complete Graphics for all content.
Each time you launch the LOTRO Client it checks to see if you have the latest version of the Client and updates it accordingly. You cannot avoid this update check process.

All updating of the LOTRO Client is handled by Turbine. Steam has nothing to do with it.

There are 2 downloads for PC when you're not using Steam Valamar. One is the high-res client, the other is not. The non-high res version is what you download when you select 'play instantly'

If you have that version, then I think you'll have to download the high-res version (so everything).
The data you get using Steam is the high-res version, and the only advantage I can think of is that you can use the Steam wallet to purchase TP.

Thanks guys! I changed resolution some more and well it does look a bit better now. Still I cannot help but think that a lot of let's plays seem to be better textured then again... that may be a skewed impression.
Interesting. DIdn't realize that the PC version of Happy Cloud (play instantly) downloaded the low-rez version. The Mac version of Happy Cloud downloads the HighRez version.

You can select to download the Low Rez (Standard Resolution) verision from {LINK REMOVED}, but that requires a specific action.
Graphics issues are quite subjective. But, other than that,
it takes some careful examination to detect the differences in most of the different settings. A couple of them are "obviously" different -- post processing effects being the first one that comes to mind. "Frills" I think are another -- you can be standing on what looks like bare ground, switch settings and discover you are in a field of waving grass.
