Can't even get logged in

I might be an idiot, but for some reason this isn't working. I reinstalled after seeing the anniversary stuff, and wanted to hop on to claim the gifts and things before the 16th. Just spent probably an hour and a half waiting for all the updates to download, finally got to the login on the launcher... and it tells me it can't launch the client because no LOTRO subscription was found. The website has zero info on anything specific to playing through Steam. This is a F2P game, why am I getting this message?

Is it an old account?
Is it an account you've played DDO on before?

It's a pretty old account, I don't recall when I started playing but it's probably been five years or more since I last played. I've never played DDO before.

Mmm, and you don't get to the server selection screen but not a warning about wrong login.

Correct. I just get an error box with the title of "Failed to launch client" and the message "No subscription for LOTRO found".

I have yet to find a place to login on the actual LOTRO site; all I'm seeing is registering for an account there. Account management I can log into just fine.

Well, I don't have any more ideas.
Maybe something is blocking the launcher connection.

I just made a new account to test, and I can log in fine on that one, so I have no idea what the problem is. The LOTRO forums are being weird with my main login, too, I don't seem to have permission to post new topics in any of the subforums.

Even if your account was for any other Turbine game in the past, you have to get the code for LOTRO added to that account. Only email accounts that was used to make a LOTRO account, will be able to play LOTRO.

If you insist on using that old turbine account, you have to get Standing Stones Games CS to email you a product key code that you add to your old turbine account.

If you have played LOTRO in the past and have money invested in LOTRO on that old turbine account, then you need to contact SSG CS anyway to get it fixed.

Now I think I had the wrong username somehow, and I'm running into a new problem where I've changed the password on the correct username, but even though it says it changed it successfully, when I try to log in with it it says the username and password don't match.

- Valid passwords are between 6 and 15 characters with at least one number and cannot contain apostrophes. At least 1 capital letter, at least 1 lower case letter, and at least 1 number, all within 15 characters. Don't use spaces. Maybe use simple number special characters !@#$%^&*()

Yep, followed those rules. Typed it in manually all times, still not working.

I did manage to sort it out, by changing my password to a simpler (and less secure) one! But yeah, in dealing with this, so many parts of different LOTRO-related websites were busted, their tech support isn't available on weekends, the whole thing was so frustrating.
