Confused about monetization
I'm trying to figure out what I need to and don't need to actually purchase to get access to all of the content. The monthly sub, then I have to buy quests? And expansions? Are those the same thing? Anything else I am missing? What about the paywall races/classes?

Thanks for your time!

Everything is free up until level 95. The most recent things have to be purchased (Gundabad, Three Peaks, and Minas Morgul).

If you pay for VIP, the only thing you would have to buy to have all content would be The Fate of Gundabad and the Corsairs of Umbar expansions.

If you have the money, my advice would be to just pay for the subscription. The benefits are 100% worth it IMO.

But if you don't want to pay for VIP, yes, you'd have to buy all the content after level 95. Quests and expansions are two separate things. But you don't necessarily have to spend real money if you're willing to grind Lotro Points.

With all the points you can get from the free content you don’t have to worry about paying real money for content for a long time

So to clarify, the monthly sub then what is it, $90 for expansions?

Standard Edition for "Expansions" generally are going to be $39.99 USD.

So a VIP Sub for $14.99 USD (1-Month) + two - $39.99 USD Expansions = $94.97 USD for all of LOTRO's Content right now in August 2024.

It depends. If you use the free store points you earn in the game or get via your sub, expansions could cost you No Money at all.

Or you could go to the online store and buy the most expensive version for $130.00, but generally the base versions go from $20 to $40 dollars or about $20 worth of points in the ingame store.

PLUS you'll always want to look for content sales. I picked up a bunch of expansions for $5 (99 pts) during their various specials, but on average it's generally just 25% off, stuff like that.

When you're vip you don't see content in the store you wouldn't have or would you?
Elitewrecker PT Aug 13, 2024 @ 9:02am
You’re not able to buy content you have due to being vip no, last I heard.

You're not going to play all the content right away. IF you really want, take VIP if you're sure you're gonna play often. It's gonna take you quite a while to burn through all the content up until where VIP allows you, at which point you'll most likely have lotro points to buy at least one of the two latest content expansions, which would be free because of all the lotro points you got from deeds and stuff.

Don't buy things until you're at least AT that point to which you can actually play it.

Yeah but my point was when you're vip I believe in the store you can't see anything you don't have unlocked, unless I'm wrong and you can that's why I was asking, so for a new player to go vip that's great but once they hit 95 they won't be able to see any content in the store while vip

If your VIP you can still see content to buy permanently.

Anyone can go to the current Max Level of 150.

The more Content you have access to, mostly the Quests, will make the process to "naturally" Level much faster than if you don't own Content.

Back when Level 130 was the Max Level we even had 1 Player at the time go from Level 1 to Level 130 by Farming + Cooking.

You can see the non-expansion quest packs?
Because previously, you couldn’t see stuff that you had from vip - for example when expansions were being sold for 99 lotro points, vips couldn’t see the ones they didn’t have permanently.
