Is the Steam Version the Same as the Standalone Version?

Hey, I hope y'all don't mind me asking this, but is the version on Steam now in sync with the standalone version? I'm remembering for a while the Steam version wasn't updated, but I'd love to have this on Steam if it's the same version.

There is only one version.
What people meant by steam version not being updated was the initial download, which meant it took a lot longer to then update the game to the current state.

I'm not sure of the current state but it was basically an outdated version of it, compared to the one from the official site.

The installer isn't. Steam seems to have an out dated copy of the game files so if you download the game via steam, than once you get to the games launcher it'll have to update all the files so pretty much a 2nd download of the game.

Do not use Steam for this game. That comes with lots of issues.

Indeed, i uninstalled from steam used their standalone, no issues. Only way i could get VIP to work. Steam interfacing with SSG is just bad.

As I recall, LoTRO was put on here by either Turbine, or Warner Brothers. I'm pretty sure it was back in the Turbine days. Back then, some of the devs would come on here occasionally to answer questions.

As time passed, that happened less and less, and once it became SSG, completely went away. I don't know if SSG doesn't have the staff, time, or interest in maintaining what's on here, but it seems the Steam download has been out of date for a long time.
